About 7PM tonight, one of my friend's daughters (4 yr old) went missing in a strange turn of events while fishing. It was one of those times when dad thinks mom has her eyes on the kid and she thinks he got his eyes on the kid. The kid was walking around to get to one of them, when she took a wrong turn into the woods. It's hard to explain without you seeing the layout, but the kid started yelling for help, but the wind was blowing too hard to determine what direction the voice was coming from. The kid is bare footed on top of everything. Horrible situation and a nightmare for a parent. About five minutes later, they couldn't hear her voice anylonger. It took us about 30 minutes in four wheel drives to get out to where they were to help. There were close to 300 people on foot, four wheelers and horses helping with the rescue. This is in a 40,000 acre refuge where they had flooded some old rice fields and stocked it with fish. There is water everywhere. The wind is blowing hard and the temp is about 55 degrees. To make a long story short, this four year old GIRL wondered in the woods, slews, stickers and bryers for over 7 hours (6 1/2 in total darkness). The woods are filled will wild hogs and known for its tickets. The four year old little girl finally came upon a hunting camp in the middle of these woods where she went in and took all her wet clothes off and found a sleeping bag and was sleeping when the rescuer happened to check the camp (for the second time), but this time when he shined his light on the sleeping bag in the camp, he happened to see some hair sticking out of it. Absolutely an incredible ending. The kid was in great shape considering all she went through tonight. I'm exhausted, but too pumped to go to sleep right away, so I thought I'd share it with you guys. Answered prayer to a lot of prayers tonight! Wow!

Thanks gatoraus! You're right! This is one tough four year old little girl. Been on a few of those that didn't have happy ending, so it was pretty awesome to have a happy ending this time!

Wow!! What a great story!! Nice to "hear" the ones with happy endings. That's one tough little gal...took her wet clothes off and got in the sleeping bag, went to sleep? That's too cool.

Yep, heart warming. I bet she'll be able to take care of herself when she gets older too. She could probably kick D^3's tail already!

It's great to hear that little girl made it out OK. Were I in her fathers shoes I'd be quite relieved she was OK, but the best I could hope for would to be on the run from her mother and Grandmother. I doubt there would be much need for search parties other than maybe a couple of cadaver dog teams.
BTW, we have reached the half way point on my wife's pregnancy! Last night I actually felt my little girl moving wile I kissed her mom's belly.

A wonderful, happy ending! The parents' emotions were probably frayed to the hilt, especially after it got dark, but they were rewarded with joy at the end. Kudos to you, Crawfish, for participating in such a heart-wrenching, then heart-warming event.
