I live next to WKU. Their first 5 games next year are all road. Va. Tech, Kentucky, Alabama, Indiana and Ball State. Then they go into Sun Belt play. Nice Schedule for a teams last transition year in 1a.

man that's tough for a school just coming out of 1-AA. But I go to MTSU and I have class with one of the football players. He says Western is no joke this year. I mean they did win a 1-AA(or D2? I can't remember) Nat'l Titile less than 10 years ago

They won a 1aa title 5 years ago. They also had a winning record and beat MTSU at MTSU bad last year. The thing is..... they had a freshman QB and had almost half the team redshirt for the first transition year.

You know a thread goes away when you don't post on it and keep bumping it.

Considering the SEC loves to play Sun Belt schools (In fact 2 of them are on WKU schedule this year) some people might.

IN fact word is that UT may do a home and home with WKU if WKU plays the home game at LP Field.

Enjoyed watching us play them in the home opener last year. Good fans. Horrible mascot. Hope CPF doesnt mistake it for a gumdrop and kill the poor thing.

uhh....Western beat MTSU by 3 last year...I don't consider that "bad" and MT had a slew of injuries and we will compete for the Sun Belt title this year.

hahahaha. hold on. MTSU compete for the title. hahahahahahahahahaha. Did you see the blue raider. He must still be sore WKU won the SBC daily double in basketball.

I actually love the WKU/MTSU rivalry.

Are you coming up to BG for the game this year. The stadium should be done by then.

Big Red is horriable but always a Capital One finalist.

I love that thing. Damned if I know how they ever figured out how to make a 'Hilltopper' mascot. It looks like a red Grimace from the McDonald's marketing.

You coming to Lex for the UK-WKU game BF? We'll have to slam some brews outside Commonwealth. Unbelievable that the Toppers and Cats have never met on the gridiron. I'm really looking forward to this one. I was really hoping this would happen w/Western's ascension to whatever those crazy kids are calling D-1 these days.

I will either be there or Athens for Bama vs. Georgia. If I am in Lexington you can find me before and after with the Kentucky Eagle beer tailgate or over by Nutter fieldhouse. After I may roll over to Platinum or Spearamint. Been a while since I hit the stripclubs and Lexington is a great spot for those.

I wish they would of scheduled it 2 weeks later. That way I could hit Keeneland. I'll be at Keeneland for spring meet. Also may make Sweet 16 this week.

While I understand that it's rough for a school to move from 1AA to 1A, I'm not very impressed with that schedule. Outside of VT, they play a bunch of bottom tier teams from the major conferences. I'm sure they will lose all 5, but that doesn't make it a tough schedule.

That thing looks like Phil Fulmer after someone told him that they had thrown a Kispy-Keem doughnut into a vat of red paint!

That thing likes like the love child of Chuck Mangeno and a muppet.

He's cool. but what is he supposed to be?

One: he's a Top of a hill (The Head and the school is red/a ton of mud). If you want book him for a public apperance: http://www.wkusports.com/pdf/BigRedRequestFrom.pdf

PLus they have been waving towels here for decades (not like the recent fad). I hate the towel and the damn logo they use for it:
http://www.wkusports.com/images_new/wku_logo_rev.gif

I prefer the old school logo:
http://www.wkusports.com/images_new/support_centercourt.gif

I love their Alumni list: K.C. Armstrong, Former Assistant Producer of the Howard Stern Show (Played football for them), John Carpenter film director, Matt Long, actor (Jack McCallister on WB's Jack & Bobby), Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luther on Smallville), Steve Gorman rock drummer for The Black Crowes, Larnelle Harris gospel singer, The Hilltoppers (1950s popular singing group comprised of WKU students including Billy Vaughn), Nappy Roots, Cordell Hull Secretary of State under FDR Nobel Peace Prize winner, Joe Bugel assistant offensive head coach for the Washington Redskins,
Romeo Crennel head coach for the Cleveland Browns, Clem Haskins. former Chicago Bulls National Basketball Association player and former NCAA basketball coach for both WKU and the University of Minnesota, Jeremi Johnson Bengals, Jim McDaniels First Basketball player to sign Million dollar NBA contract, Kenny Perry PGA Golfer, Bobby Sippio Chiefs WR, Rod Smart aka He hate me of XFL, Chris Turner former Major League Baseball catcher for World Series champion New York Yankees, Duncan Hines the cake guy and Mel Mitchell Patriots.

GTTiger, you may not be impressed but I am. They have more BCS Conf. road games OOC in one year than LSU has had since 1995. So in 13 years you've had 4 road BCS conf. calibur games. Those tough teams were Arizona, Arizona State, Texas A&M and Va. Tech.
