I guess it wasn't meant to be for the AAFL! The league had a requirement that the players had to have a degree to play in the league and that would've help schools graduation rate.

Maybe it will work next year. Looks like the NFL would support this some since NFL Europe failed and this is on a much smaller scale.

Shame though, I was hoping it would fly.
CBS Sports put this out today. Interesting how they are going to try and use college stadiums and their college colors to attract fans. I don't think it has a prayer, but it's not my money... so who knows!
Start-up pro football leagues seem to make a lot of people stupid. Otherwise rational beings have thrown good money after bad trying to capitalize on the nation's appetite for the sport. The AAFL is looking at legendary coaches like R.C. Slocum to lead teams.
What does the AAFL have that the other pretenders didn't? Passion, for one. Franchises will more or less be located in college football hotbeds (Gainesville, Knoxville, Birmingham for starters). That's the reason that The Swamp has a team and the Orange Bowl doesn't.
