Mississippi State junior linebacker Jamon Hughes was arrested at 5:30 Wednesday night by Starkville Police on charges of driving under the influence.

It is expected that Hughes, who entered spring drills as the primary back up to Jamar Chaney at middle linebacker, will be suspended from team.

The arrest, Hughes' first offense, comes with a fine of $250 to $1,000. A release from MSU athletic media relations is forthcoming

STARKVILLE, Miss. ? Mississippi State head football coach Sylvester Croom suspended indefinitely rising junior linebacker Jamon Hughes (Rolling Fork, Miss.), a penalty that will go into effect in Fall 2008.

Hughes was suspended for a violation of team rules. He will continue to workout and practice with the team through spring drills.

it will probably be one game just like riddell last year....but maybe more since he isnt a QB....

Maybe one day MSU can get on the level of Bama and FSU when it comes to arrest/suspensions.

I doubt it...but a course in duck hunting may work and maybe even a long snapper to boot :thumpsup:

Well, you know, you have to take the good with the bad. You can't very well be a respectable SEC team without a few entries on the police blotter. Congrats MSU, it really does look like y'all are coming up in the world. Welcome to the Fulmer Cup 2008.:thumpsup:
