The Nets trade All-Star point guard Jason Kidd and Malik Allen to the Mavericks for Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, Devean George, DeSagana Diop, two first-round picks and cash.

I'm not sure who got the best of that trade. Kidd's a little long in the tooth, he's about to turn 35; and Dallas sends 4 pretty good players, 2 first rounders, and some dough to NJ for he and Allen? :brick: Doesn't sound like a very good trade for Dallas.

Its all about right now in the NBA West. All those other teams made moves and Dallas knew they had to make some kind of move to hang with them. This also vindicates my post a few months back that Kidd went on out on strike for that game against the Knicks. He wanted to force a trade.

I agree, while Kidd is a great team player, he is past his prime. Bad trade for the Mavs.

What were they going to do? Play some entertaining hoops for the rest of the season and then lose again in the first round? They had to try.

I understand that but they gave up a helluva lot to get him. That's what I think makes it a bad deal. Now, if they win a championship, then I might change my mind. But IMO that's unlikely to happen.

I think it's great for Dallas. They get a chance to win; Kidd will probably play for 3 more years. They'd be picking late in the first round, so it's a crapshoot by that time. Kidd will take over for Harris, Stackhouse is old as hell, and the rest of the guys are bench players.
