That's a nice expansion; fitting for an SEC school with such a rich football tradition. Kudos to the Bammers.

That looks great. South Carolina after the 08 season will enclose the north endzone and it should be close to what the south endzone looks. Stadium capacity will be around 88-90k.

We are going to have a lot of huge stadiums in the SEC. When someone comes here to play our teams, they will hear from the crowd!

As posted earlier, SC is in expansion mode as well. The North End-zone will feature a new upper deck for the 2009 season. I wish they would enclose the whole stadium and get rid of the turn-styles (even though they look really cool). They could easily fit 100,000 seats in that stadium if expanded differently. But then that would get rid of Williams Brice's personality, and thats probly what they're trying to keep.

How many boxes will Bryant Denny have after the expansion?

I have the same philosophy as you do in that regard. When Arkansas expands again, I wan't them to shoot for higher numbers as they already have more box seats than any other College Stadium in the country.

Hell no! the turn things are awesome! we stood there for the last few minutes of the game! and before the game we saw our friend ''Joe Hills'' come out and got to say hey to him! plus they are pretty cool so keep them.

It's not a question of putting seats over the bridge. They would have to move the bridge and it is doubtful that they could or that it would be cost effective to do so. There's the possibility of more luxury boxes because they do pay for themselves.

That's cool for 'Bama - two expansions in the space of three years even despite the fact they haven't been much chop for a while. Just goes to show how loyal SEC fans are that they'll turn up in droves to see their school even if it is struggling.

I don't think we'll see UGA expand for a while - the bridge is sort of iconic and that's really the only space that could be filled in. As it is, 93,000 is pretty bloody huge.

MillDawg007
01-30-2008, 08:55 AM
Closing off the bridge would hault the construction of our new student center. For the question on why we are expanding it, I think its because the old Tate center needs updating it is pretty old.

I thought the game had been played in Jax since the very beginning. Wasn't the first game played there in 1915? I guess there is that home/home y'all played in '94 and '95. Refresh my memory... didn't Florida win 52-14 in Gainesville, and then go to Athens and hand UGA their worst loss ever, 52-17? If I recall correctly, Spurrier was asked, after the game, why he kept scoring when the game was already won, and he said something like, "Well, nobody has ever scored 50 points between the hedges, and I wanted to see what it felt like.". Yep, that sounds like fear to me.

None of those soccer stadiums are in the US, though!

Camp Nou only holds 98,000 anyway. I think they may be expanding it something like 110,000, though. That would be biggest soccer stadium behind the one that's in Mexico City (El Azteca, I think seats 115,000) as far as soccer goes. Maracana in brazil used to hold 150,000 or more but that was prodigiously unsafe. Now the capacity is something like 100,000.

The expansion at BDS looks great. At starkville nothing will happen unless the season ticket sales increase and stay steady for a period of time in other words if they feel that tickets will sale then it might be considered but I don't see it happening for a long time.

That is correct.... Tennessee has the third largest in the U.S. I was thinking about it, they are pretty much done adding the Neyland... I don't see how they could add any more seats... I mean, it isn't impossible... do they even have a need? Other than pride, why would they need a larger stadium?
