I found this today and thought how funny it was along as being a pant load of shimp. I clearly remember McFadden being rated a two-three star player when in High school. But now there no egg on Rivals face. What a load.

I don't think McFadden was ever that low.

If they really were in the business of righting wrongs, Patrick Willis (http://olemiss.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=11906) would have been moved up a bit.

Yeah, it doesn't make up for the initial blunder in my mind though. How you miss that bad on a guy like McFadden is beyond me. We all know that rating recruits isn't an exact science, but it seems like they could get it right most of the time.

Him and Derrick Williams were obviously the best in that class of athletes for 2005 though. I don't even recognize any of those people on there except for Hardesty who has been less than spectacular for the Vols and Todd Cox, but only because he dropped out of Ole Miss last fall.

Hardesty has done nothing to show that he wasn't deserving of a 4 star ranking. When he plays and has been healthy he has been effective. It's tough when you have a player like Arian Foster ahead of you and a Lamarcus Coker on the roster as well.

EDIT: I see you edited that.:D

Catching my post before I edited it you jerk. I went further down the list and saw that Felix Jones was listed as an Ath too so I decided to pull it before I looked foolish.

But then again, Arian Foster was only a 3-star back the same year as Hardesty. Coker was rated higher that year than Hardesty (6.0 to 5.9 on the RR scale) but Coker spends so much time in the doghouse that I don't even know if he should count. Of course, they may all lose out to Creer.

Foster was in the '04 recruiting class, Hardesty was in the '05. Coker is history now, but he did steal playing time from Hardesty when he was here.

And you're right about Creer, only time will tell though.

McFadden was never a 2-3 star player. I remember his recruitment well. He was one of the top RBs in the country in '04-'05. Always a 5 star guy.

Well does that not go to prove that rivals is full of sh_t!!! Nobody knows how an 18 year old kid will do on the college level.

Hunter is right. McFadden was a 5-star guy coming out of high school. Rivals didn't alter it to save face.

I keept up with his recruitment also and he was always a top RB. I remember a lot of threads that compared him to Adrian Peterson, so TD stop being a homer.

Yea...he was 5-star guy from the get-go...on Rivals for sure. Think he was either the #1 or #2 RB coming out of HS...if I remember correctly, Scout had him lower...but he was still a 5-star player. Don't know what you're talking about TD...:headscrat:

I think you are wrong.

Look at the articles. Unless they went back and decided to lie and edit those he was a 5 star. You might recall him being a 2 star to begin with i.e. he had not been scouted, but he ended up before signing day to be a 5 star. Here is a quote from one of his articles:

McFadden, 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, is the most highly decorated prospect Arkansas has signed from within the state since Shawn Andrews in 2001. Andrews went on to become the Philadelphia Eagles' No. 16 overall pick in last year's NFL Draft. McFadden has similar potential.
....
McFadden's game film was good enough to warrant a spot in the Rivals100, but his performance in one-on-one drills and his 4.38-second clocking in the 40-yard dash at the NIKE Training Camp in Atlanta moved him into the top 30 prospects for 2005. His impressive senior season, combined with a 4.33-second clocking in the 40 at the 2004 Houston Nutt Camp gave him another boost to 5-star status. When he suits up next season for his first collegiate game, he will still only be 17 years old.
....
Rivals.com rates McFadden the No. 2 'athlete' in the country and the No. 23 overall recruit. After he committed to Arkansas, Alabama and Tennessee came calling with offers, but McFadden never wavered.

Hell I even remember comparing him on Scout too and thinking Scout was wrong on his ranking. Think they orginally had him at a 4-star then later a 5-star. Now Rivals I can garentee he was a 5-star from the first time he was evaluated.

McFadden was ranked as a 5 star athlete but a 3 star RB. I do remember that. But recruiting rankings are overrated at any rate with the exception of those 4 or 5 undeniable talents. Just look at ND.

Did anyone else notice that he made a 23 on the ACT. He must be really good at Math because I doubt he got anything above a 5 on the Reading Comprehension section.

2 star and not ranked?? He was consensus All-SEC and named a Football Writers Association All-American as a SOPHOMORE. He recorded 77 tackles 1 FF and 2 INT in his 2006 rookie season with the Bills. You think they would have gone back and changed that star ranking.

Johnathan Joseph Profile - Football Recruiting (http://southcarolina.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=20296)

3 star and not ranked? This guy was a first round pick in the draft for the Bengals and started several games.

Sidney Rice Profile - Football Recruiting (http://southcarolina.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=13518)

Need I say more? Rivals isn't trying to cover up anything.
