The inaugural All American Football League (AAFL) draft will be broadcast live Saturday January 26 from Noon-3 pm (ET) on Cox Cable channel 67 in Gainesville and channel 68 in Ocala.

Team Florida’s draft day activities will originate from the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center with head coach Shane Matthews overseeing Team Florida’s draft selections. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. for members of the general public interested in attending the draft, which will include the introduction of Team Florida’s top draft picks as well as former Florida, Florida State and Miami players who have already been signed to AAFL contracts with Team Florida.

Among the former Gator players expected to attend are Chris Leak, Eli Williams, Eric Kresser, Chris Doering, Travis McGriff, Willie Jackson, Steve Rissler, Judd Davis, O.J. Small, Fred Weary, Brian Crum and Bam Hardmon.

All six AAFL teams have a protected a list of players who played college football in the team’s home state or in one of that team’s protected states. Those players will be introduced to the public during the draft. Depending on the number of players each team has protected, that number of draft picks in the middle rounds will be filled by those protected players.

The first five rounds of the draft will consist of players who are not on any of the AAFL teams’ protected lists. In order to be eligible for the draft, players must have attended an AAFL combine, workout or tryout or have a written scouting report from AAFL personnel on file at the league office. In addition, players must have signed an AAFL Draft Eligible Player Agreement and must have verification of a college degree (official transcript) on file at the league office.

Team Texas is gonna ROLL you guys!!!

I don't think this league will last long, but I am a bit interested. I like that all of the players will be local and I LOVE the fact that every player has to have graduated from their universities in order to play. That's a nice statement!! Team Texas will play their games at Rice University here in Houston.
