I watched it yesterday. I listen to the Rick & Bubba show.
Just to fill people in that might not know, Rick on Saturday lost one of his sons, Bronner. He was almost 3 years old. He drowned in the family pool. Rick was at a speaking engagement in the Smokies when it happened. The video is from the memorial service.
I have given eulogies (sp?) for my Granddaddy, Nana, and Best Friend. I sure as hell never sounded like Rick. You would have never thought he lost a son. You could certainly tell the Lord was giving him strength to speak. A very moving talk and I encourage everyone to listen to it.

Yea, those are strong words, and I feel very sorry for his loss. But at the same time, I really don't understand how he can stand up there and use his son's tragic death as a bible lesson. If a loved one died in my family, the last thing I'd be worried about is god. I'd probly be cursing god, not praising him for an 'opportunity' to speak. I may be misreading the situation, but I just don't understand his logic.

Unreal strength. I believe him when he says "satan has messed up".

I guess it's just something that someone without faith can't understand.

I have faith but what he did was beyond that. Its like he said, he couldn't do itbut God can and thats the only way he, himself got up there.

uhhh..... who leaves a child alone near a pool these days? I feel for the guy but, his wife or whoever was in charge showed huge neglect.

Not suprising you would jump in here with a comment like that. Not suprised at all. There is always one in every group.
The story is, his wife, sat the kids in front of the TV to watch a movie. She thought all the doors were locked and she headed to take a shower. Bronner apparently got up, unlocked the door or went out the door if it wasn't locked and then eventually fell in the pool.
Accidents happen and I certainly don't think it was neglect on the wife's part.

The unfortunate part is she'll have to live with that for the rest of her life. It was definitely just an accident, and hopefully she'll realize it and accept it for just that.....an accident. At that age it only takes a moment for something terrible like this to happen when young ones are involved. Hopefully, her faith is as strong as her husbands. She'll need it to get through this.

So she left a 2 year old in front of the TV? The two year old got up unlocked the door goes out and into the pool. The older son says nothing?
Not being an a** just seems like what most complain about. People need to watch their kids better.

He said Sherri ( his wife) is what made him a stronger Christian. So it sounds as if shes just as strong,if not stronger Christian than Rick. I hope she is.

I don't doubt their faith. I don't doubt that she loved her child. I want everyone to see that neglect causes accidents. Neglect happens everyday in almost every family. But, this needs to be a warning to more than the devil. It needs to be a signpost to parents to love your children and if you have a pool you better have a huge fence to lock kids out.
uhhh..... who leaves a child alone near a pool these days? I feel for the guy but, his wife or whoever was in charge showed huge neglect.Guess you better know the whole story before you comment........His wife was watching the children, the doors were locked....he walked out of the room where she was, unlocked the door and walked outside and fell in the pool. Most all of us that have kids know that 2-3 yr. olds can run into another room in a flash. All of us let our children run around certain rooms, I know there are times when I walked out of the room for a minute and my daughter would be in another room in that time. You obviously feel with the door s locked that everything is fine.
We all make mistakes with our children, she did nothing wrong.....it was merely a freak accident that God allowed to happen. Nothing more, nothing less. If you weren't there, then you really don't know that there was neglect, sometimes things are beyond your control. Don't forget to pull the log from your eye.

I apologize y'all, as I meant to post this thread at the Water Fountain.....thought I was in the Water Fountain when I posted it but obviously wasn't. My bad.

I agree, the way he acts in the speach is the way he should act a year later. I'd be sobbing like a baby if my 3 year old died. He's just so nonchalant, it's kind of eerie.
