It seems that Brian Vangorder is leaving to be the new DC for the Falcons, and sources say that Ellis Johnson will be leaving Arkansas to be the DC at USC. Just what i've heard... there's already a topic about this in SC sports, just thought i'd bring it over.

Johnson just did to Arkansas what Vangorder did to USC. F that guy, he's going to ruin our recruiting class.
didn't know Johnson was a SC native...
Petrino can't get mad, what's he gonna say?? "Hey you can't do that you gave me your word" Johnson said, Yea Petrino was disappointed but he understands. Of course he does.

 Yeah Petrino knows firsthand how much THAT's worth.

Now the race is on to see if we can start more VanGorder threads than Petrino threads:laugh:

Looks like this is a good thing for SC if we land Johnson. I was kind of looking forward to VanGorder, he was the guy I wanted since Nix left. Before BVG was hired, some people said SOS and BVG would not get along well.
I wouldn't be surprised if The Visor told him to start packing not too long after the "hire." Johnson should turn out to be better and more loyal anyways.

Not sure how much better it can get than the guy who was responsible for the defense that turned out all-americans like David Pollack and Odell Thurman. My god, BVG's defenses were the greatest Georgia fans have seen since Erk Russell's.

Yea, that's the kind of stuff I was saying when we hired the guy (or were susposed to). Now, I'm not so sure how dedicated he would have been, though. He probably would have been great for a year or two, until he bolts for the NFL again. I could see Ellis sticking around until we at least go to the SECC.

I really don't think loyalty would have been an issue... you have to put it in context. Petrino had just left the program in Atlanta in a mess. Van Gorder had a chance to get back to a program that knew its dick from its ear, and he took it. Things probably didn't go well with Spurrier in that first month. Then Atlanta hires a new GM, and hires Mike Smith as head coach; a guy who Van Gorder has worked under before. All of the sudden its looking a bad decision to work with Spurrier, and his job in Atlanta is still open to him. So he just takes his old job back.
There wasn't much time for loyalty to USC to develop... he was there less than a month.

Im glad that it happened, and I'm glad Johnson is going to USC. Arkansas can just keep sending over their recruits for official visits to UM.

I completely agree. It sounds like the situation was that VanGorder didn't like the idea of working with Spurrier as much as he hoped for. Plus, his family hadn't moved to SC yet, his Salary will nearly triple with the new Falcons DC job, and he doesn't have to buy a new house or anything. Who wouldn't take that job under a friend?

It seriously had nothing to do with Spurrier. It's all about the money.

Coordinators are becoming just as whorish as head coaches. It looks like the only group that has true loyalty is us fans.

Not really because somehow Tebow even finds his way into threads about Brian VanGorder.

Slick Rick is not a fan, just some strange two man circus. I say two man because there is Slick Rick and then there is the voice of Slick Rick talking about Slick Rick.

There wasn't really any harm done in his move to USC. Arkansas needs a DC but that is it. He's got family there and it works out better for him. I don't see how his leaving could damage the U of A so there isn't any reason to be upset about his exodus. He's a talented and experienced coordinator, but he will be easily replaced I'm guessing.

Yeah, he hadn't settled in with anyone just like Vangorder at USC.

YOU GUYS "ALMOST" MAKE THE REST OF US WANT TO SEE HIM GET MANGLED FOR LIFE! Just to end the countless TEBOW threads...[not really]
AND BEFORE YOU START... I WILL GO ON RECORD SAYING THAT "I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THE YOUNG MAN HURT AT ALL".
He is a great talented kid with a good aditude, kind of reminds me of an old vet NFL player Fran Tark. Who had the winning aditude, but UNLIKE TEBOW, he was surrounded by wantabes rather than talanted teamates. What was it ? 3-4 Superbowls 0 wins? It was a long time ago, my stats may be wrong, but I don't want to look it up at this early AM hour.
I think Tebow is great for both the SEC and the sport of football.
BUT to compair the USC DC threads VS TEBOW is a real BIG stretch ! :brick:
