Plenty of SEC representation. I hate that Clemson beat us by 2 spots.:brick:

It's not a ranking of how good a school is as far as education. It's a ranking of best values in public schools. There are no private schools listed.

I'm sure we could dig up some of USCRebel's old posts regarding these topics since he's a collegiate professor and a pretty worldly guy. But, I do recall him saying that Florida is far and away one of the better schools in the country and one of the few U.S. universities that ranks on the international level.

Not compared to tUF and UGA. tUF is listed as the #4 party school followed by UGA at #5. UT is #15.

Not to "toot our horn"...but UF ranks 2nd only to Harvard in the number of Merit Scholars enrolled.

Also, this past Fall...there were so many applications to UF...that most students with less than a 4.0 GPA weren't admitted. That's just crazy!!!

Another thing...this report says UF's enrollement is 35,000? More like 50,000.

They are probably counting full time students not part time or those in graduate schools.

Its always been that way. As the flagship university in the state, we are required to take more students than Clemson. Than can be pickier than we can. It does make our campus much more diverse than theirs though.

So.... if a high school student made a single B on a report card in 4 years of high school, they couldn't get admitted to UF? Really?

Well, there are classes with weighted grades. For example, if you take a college class, an A is worth 5 points. My friend though had a 4.3 and 1290 and didn't get in.

I think they must operate on a 5 point grade system in Florida. In Georgia, a 4.0 is perfect.

You guys didn't have AP classes? I think I had like a 3.7 on the 4.0 scale.

Only "Dual Enrollment" classes. These classes are offered by some HS...you get college credits for taking these HS classes...the courses are worth 5 points for an "A" instead of the usual 4.

There was an article about this about 6 months ago in the Orlando Sentinel...thousands of students weren't admitted...some with 4.0 GPAs. I guess it depends on their "Major" as well.

You can set up the query differently and can get the listing for private schools.

Heres the link:
