You know... in the SEC you could consider at least three teams that you just MUST beat for it to be a great season. That is sort of how I see rivalries... if you beat that team, it's a good season.

I'm thinking for LSU fans it probably goes Florida, Bama, Arkansas. I would much rather see that list inverted. I know for most young/student Arkansas fans, such as myself, Beating Texas isn't as big a deal as beating LSU.

You guys must have a rough child hood growing up with no rival hahaha! doesn't that like screw with you manhood a bit haha! jk

Believe it or not, but for years it was Tulane that was "the" rilvalary for LSU until the 80's when we stopped playing them on a regular basis. But years ago, when they were competitive, they gave us some really tough games; and would occasional win. The hatred is still pretty deep, especially with the older crowd. But that faded when they just couldn't hang with the big programs in recruiting.

Yeah, but every year the Auburn game is really what determines how we do in the West. So you've got to add those guys in there for sure. And who knows, with Arkansas seemingly on the rise, you're right, beating you guys could be what determines our season for now on. Lord knows, that game this year almost messed up everything. I've never been so tired in my life then after that third OT. What a game!

Do you all play Tex ass anymore ever?

No, we haven't played them since the Cotton Bowl back four or five years ago. We played the great in the first half, but they were just too much for us in the second half. Not one of Saban's finer moments. I don't think we're scheduled to play them anytime soon though unless it's in another bowl game.

damn... when i was younger and a fan my grandpa always was anti ole miss.. so i got that drilled into my head at a early age.. but over the years FLA had to be up there (they gave us alot of beatings over the years) we finally got to the point were we actually compete ... then.. i guess bama/ark would be there ... more ARK cuz of the game for the boot

Definitely Auburn. The LSU / Auburn game determines the SEC West more often than not.

All of those teams are rivals to LSU. What you are searching for here is an arch rival. This is the rivalry that just kills you if you loose and you just can't wait until next year to beat that team. You would immediately know if you had a rival like that. You don't need no stinkin' pole. LSU has no Arch rival. It's kind of a B**ch having one so count yourself lucky.

I agree, LSU does not really have a arch rival. Just a "bunch" of 2nd tear rivals(If that makes since). We play noone that ruins my whole year if we lose to (IE--Bama/Auburn, Florida/FSU). I also agree with the Florida guy that wonders how they got stuck with playing LSU. That game was very fruitful for Florida for many years. It's just been the last 5 years or so that it's been competative.

It has definitly decided whether LSU would go to the SECCG since 2000. It hasn't decided whether or not Auburn would as of late though.

I would have to say it's Auburn also. They've been more of a rival to them, than we have recently.

Auburn no doubt, as in recent years, the West has been a fight between mainly Auburn and LSU.

LSU's biggest rival really is dependent upon what part of the state you are from. I know alot of older folks really really hate Ole Miss a lot. The same can be said about Tulane. I know in north Louisiana we really really hate Arkansas even though they joined the SEC in 92'. Alabama has always been a rival just because of how good they are traditionally. I think it's funny that Tulane is the only in-state rivalry but I guess it's because no other team offers competition. I think LSU's TRUEST rival is whoever they are playing that saturday.

depends on how old you are. i'm in my thirties so i'll say auburn. you ask my little sister and she'll say alabama. you ask my older brother he'll say florida. you ask my dad and he'll say ole miss. you ask my grandpa and he'd say tulane.

LSU has no arch-rival. That's just the way it is.

A Bama fan knows their arch-rival is Auburn. A State fan knows their arch-rival is Ole Miss. LSU doesn't have that, but a lot of schools don't either.
