View Full Version : What's SEC fans opinion on NFL network?

I think it's horseshimp personally. The NFL was the strongest Pro League going into this season. To me why mess with a good thing. Years ago, Major league baseball was a top sports must see to million on fans. But after two players strikes, fans came away with a bad taste in their mouth with the boys of summer.
If fans allow this crap to happen, next season they will sneak even more top games on the NLFN. And then we will be at their mercy. The next thing will be pay-per-view for the Super Bow along with the play-offs.
If this happens, then it's over for me. No more NFL Sundays at my house. It will be NCAA Saturdays and nothing else.
Fudge the NFL if they go to this. GD it! It's hard enough living under a freeway bridge. I don't need this crap to disrupt my pathetic life. And if you other bums feel the way I do then lets make a stand. Just say No to the NFL network.

I personally hate the NFL network. I didn't mind it until the Packers and Cowboys game. I had to go to a bar to watch a prime time big game and thusly run up a prime time big game bar tab:alcohol: I personally think that the NFL is getting extremely greedy and that they need to work on taking better care of their former players instead of focusing on lining their pockets with my money.

When are they adding an SEC game of the week?

I get the NFL Network as part of my normal digital cable package here in Oxford so I'll enjoy my Thursday night games without calling my inept senator to pitch a fit.
Although I do wonder, how many SEC fans that crybaby about the NFL Network are pro-SEC Network where there will also be games of the week that will require a digital subscription to view.

Now that Cox Communications has added the HD NFL network, I watch it a little bit more. But I generally only watch Falcons and Redskins (the old ball and chain is a Washington fan) games anyway. And I missed the Colts/Falcons match up earlier this year.
My brother in law has confirmed that Bryant Gumbel is still PAINFUL to listen to.

gumble and collinsworth make a very odd set of commentators. actually CC is fine, gumbel is just odd. for me it's just as awkward as when dennis miller did MNF.

Gumble is the worst announcer working today, period!

I've only seen three NFL network games in 2 years. All I can say is Gumballs is the worst announcer ever. Why not get Mcneil-Lehrer to do the booth?
Collnsworth is pretty decent. Plus they change the camera angle at random times and too often. I heard Gumball has talked over several key plays versus waiting to finish his narcissistic rants.
I hope this thing burns to the ground.

I dunno, seeing as I don't care for that painfully artificial and contrived league they call the NFL.
I do know that I get it as part of my satellite bundle, but I certainly couldn't give a stuff about it one way or another.

For once I agree w/you TD.....you're absolutely right on this one. The fans have to make a stand at the stadiums as well as w/their viewing if they want their voice to be heard......as long people still pack stadiums when teams like the Ravens and Dolphins are playing....the big cheeses know they've got us in the palm of their hands. The moment we quit paying....then we have leverage. But unfortunately...I would think boycotting games as well as TV viewing would be the only way to get it done. It'd get the team's attention who would have much more of a front and center say on the issue.
NFL network sucks......greedy @#$#

I never really give it much thought since I get it as part of my Dish network HD gold package. But I can understand your fustration if you did not get it. I am wailting for the SEC network. Surely if the Big 10 can have its on network, so can the SEC.

This is exactly what's happened in the UK with Soccer.
You can't just flip on BBC, ITV, or Sky One to watch Footie; no you gotta fork out the bucks on Virgin Media (Cable) or BSkyB(Dish) to see Premier League Football on either Sky Sports or Setanta Sports.
We're falling into that same damn trap here.

Be glad you have NFL Network since you'll be able to tune into the Texas Bowl and Insight Bowl(NFL Network has the TV rights to those bowls, and I see more bowls going their way in the future...)

Also, what I see with the Big Ten Network and NFL Network here could down the road see ramifications much like Britain saw with Sky and Virgin(or as I call it, the proxy war between the media Billionaires):

Well..... not to be against the Cable companies. It's up to them to slot it as a Premium channel or not. Which is their right. Also, the NFL can give their network a big national game. The fact is the more channels the more games are shown.
Case in point. I got to see Appy State v. Michigan. Any other year I wouldn't. But, because part of my package I get Big 10 and NFL channel. In fact my sports package on HD I pay $3 a month for ESPN, ESPNHD, ESPN2, ESPN2HD, ESPN Classic, ESPN News, ESPNU, Fox Ohio, Fox Sports South, 3 Big 10 Channels, Fox Sports Atlantic, Fox Sports Central, Versus, Speed, Outdoor Channel, Fox Soccer Channel, Tennis Channel, Golf, TVGaming, Horse Racing TV, NFL, NFLHD and HDT (carries random sporting events). Not to mention the PPV channels. This is all insight. The slowest company when it comes to adapting to the future.
So, really is there any complaint fans should have. The only channels I don't have I want are Setanta and Gol TV.
If you live in an area your most likely going to get it on local TV. The right for you to have all games is new to me. I remember when there was 4 networks. As a kid in L.A. I had to wait for big games to see Alabama. Now, a kid in Iran can watch La. Monroe beat Bama. It's a question of how much you want it. It's not law that you should get a product free. You have to call your cable provider and talk them into giving it to you.

NFL Network takes up about 50 percent of my TV time
i'd love it if they had a SEC Network...LOL
the analysts are great...Marshall Faulk (hometown hero), Rick Eisen, Terrell Davis, and Jamie Dukes are awesome. i could do without Mooch and Deon though.

Yeah my parents ended up getting dish just for the packer and cowboy game which I went to their house to watch. Screw the NFL network. Go Cowboys and MSU Bulldogs.

They could just clone Jamie Dukes and keep him on TV 24/7. The guy is awesome.
