Living in Monroe before moving to Arky, I tried to be a fan of UL-Monroe, but they've been losers ever since they moved into D-I. They have been on this list for many years now, until this year. Amazing what one big win will do for a program.

I often wonder what the criteria is to be a Bowl Division (D1) school. Seems they ought to look at some of these independents and kick them back down a level when they can't cut it and let the better Subdivision schools take their place.
We know the reasons a school wants to be D1. Money and prestige. But who would argue with swapping FIU for Appalachian State right now?
Do we have an resident soccer fans? Seems I read once that a team had to perform to a certain standard, (over time), just to stay in their league. That's a decent model. IMO.

I remember reading this at least a month ago - I wonder if there is an updated version?
No wonder FIU gets something like 7000 people to its home games. Poor bastards!

What's really sad, from my perspective, is how I clicked on this thread to see if my Gamecocks were on this list.

ya know, i always thought maine was the powerhouse of the far north-east mainly hockey schools that has a football program in the state of maine. it's a good think florida didn't play them this year, maybe they'd have actually knocked out tebow...then picked up their teeth and moved on.
