Johnson is from SC, has coached at Clemson and the Citadel. He reportedly would accept the job if offered. It's also reported that Spurrier tried to hire Johnson when he became the Gamecock's HC, but apparently there were personality conflicts between Johnson and USC's President Andrew Sorensen that stemmed from their days together at Alabama: either Sorensen would'nt approve the hire, or Johnson would'nt come, I'm not sure which. Now that Sorensen's announced his retirement, Johnson is interested...

Johnson was the best coach on the staff in Starkville.

That may open up the door for Croom to hire Bower for a D.C. I don't know. I like Johnson and wish he would stay though.

You guys may be safe with us. All has quieted down here. Supposedly he wanted to bring some of his guys with him and it was a sticking point. I can tell you his is set to interview at GT Thursday, but Croom is trying to get pay raises for his assistants.

I know that Bud Foster has already turned down Spurrier twice. He has a sweet gig at VaTech until head coaching job he wants and can get comes around.

I actually turned on FineBOMB today when Bill Oliver was on and a USC fan called in asked him if he would be interested in the opening. He said there were certain circumstances that kept him from wanting the job before but those circumstances are no longer there. He didn't deny or shoot down whether he was interested in the job. That would be huge. The Evil Genius and The Defensive Genius.

I'm sure those circumstances were Sorenson who is now out of our hair.

I'm sure those circumstances were Sorenson who is now out of our hair.:thumpsup:I think you are correct. Oliver was at Bama when Sorenson dismantled the team and ran Stallings off.
