This article is laughable. This guy wants everyone to think ESPN has an agenda against Petrino and, now, Arkansas.

Talking Heads on Petrino
Otis Kirk

Arkansas' hiring of Bobby Petrino away from the Atlanta Falcons has made headlines across the nation, though some are less than flattering.

Some subscribe to the theory that if they are talking about you there is no bad publicity. Regardless of if you believe that or not, I can't help but look at two or three in the national media and wonder what their agenda concerning this is regarding Petrino.

There's no agenda. A major college football program just hired a scumbag from the NFL. That's news. The way he handled it and has handled all of his postseasons need to be exposed.

ESPN's Pat Forde has seemed to make Petrino's hiring at Arkansas a personal issue. Forde has called Petrino a "disingenuous drifter" and "liar" in recent articles.

It's strange to hear Forde seemingly hold such venom for Petrino since word is his work on the Petrino-to-Auburn rumor is what led to him getting a job with ESPN after previously working at the local newspaper.

Hilarious! The first time Petrino tried to jump ship from Louisville, Auburn secretly met with him, fully prepared to hire him after Tubby lost to Alabama. Well, Tubby didn't lose to Bama and kept his job. Thus, Petrino stayed at Louisville. Forde ran the story that Petrino and Auburn were meeting. Thus, this guy feels like Forde owes Petrino some credit. Petrino's first opportunity to showcase his snake-like abilities are what allowed Pat Forde to be where he is today. Knowing that, Pat Forde should have laid off of Petrino's latest snake-like activity.

Petrino is being ripped for considering leaving Louisville for Notre Dame, LSU, Auburn, Oakland Raiders and Atlanta Falcons. If that is the case, one has to wonder what Forde and his other cronies at ESPN think of Steve Kragthorpe, who was rumored to be interested in SMU. All the jobs Petrino considered are clearly better jobs than Louisville, but the same can't be said for SMU.

Sorry, man. A guy leaving for SMU isn't news. That doesn't sell papers. No one cares about a Big East coach leaving for Southern Methodist. No one can blame Petrino for wanting to go to Notre Dame, LSU, Auburn, or any NFL team. What he is being blamed for is going behind his school or franchise's back to try to jump to these places. Not only has Petrino tried to leave every place he has been every single year, he has lied about it every single year. He can't be blame for wanting a better job while at Louisville, but the guy got a better job, left when it got tough, and lied about it . . . just like he did the whole time he was at Louisville.

It was interesting to hear ESPN's Sean Salisbury come out strong against Petrino on the same day it was reported in Arkansas that CAC wide receiver Joe Adams may visit Arkansas. Adams is committed to USC, the same USC Salisbury played quarterback for before bombing in the NFL.

Oh I know! I can't believe Salisbury blasted Petrino the day a big time recruit was visiting Arkansas. I also can't believe Salisbury would blast Petrino THE DAY AFTER HE PULLED HIS STUNT! Give me a freakin' break! This is a current event. It is news right now. It's going to be reported and commented on, regardless of who this snake is recruiting.

And seriously, do you really think Salisbury or any other Southern Cal fan cares about one recruit? I know one blue-chip recruit may make or break the recruiting class at Arkansas, but it doesn't at Southern Cal. If the kid were to decommit from the Razorbacks, then the Trojans would replace him with another blue-chipper by the end of next week.

Forde has warned that Petrino will say 'what Arkansas wants to hear, and the poor saps will be desperate to believe him.' If that is the case, what's new Forde? I surely hope Forde isn't implying that if Petrino lied to him or to others, he's the only coach to ever do that. Forde knows better than that.

He does know that. However, this has nothing to do with Petrino lying to Forde. This has to do with Bobby Petrino lying to everyone eveywhere every year.

If coaches and administrators at major colleges saw their nose's grow like Pinochio then most would be walking around with their heads tilted to the ground. UA Chancellor John A. White openly advised his faculty to lie to the media or at least 'answer the question the way you wish it had been asked instead of the way it was.'

Sounds like Petrino is going to fit right it!

Petrino was 41-9 at Louisville and took his team to a BCS game and finished that season 12-1 and ranked No. 6 in the nation. That is what caught the Falcons' attention and caused them to hire him, and that is what led Arkansas Athletic Director (Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics) Jeff Long to hire Petrino.

No, that's not what led Long to hire Petrino. The fact that Tommy Bowden, Jim Grobe, et al turned down Arkansas is what led Long to hire Petrino. Petrino was his last chance to make a splash with a big name, and he did just that. The problem is that he'll likely be having to make another hire in the coming years.

Petrino brings a wide-open offense to Arkansas, and that is something Hog fans have craved for and now apparently will get their wish. Long is trying to talk junior running back Felix Jones into returning for his senior year.

Forde is the reporter who ran to Darren McFadden's mother before the season opener and quoted her saying Darren was going to the NFL after the season. That forced McFadden to have to scramble and deal with an issue that wasn't an issue at that time. No one considered Forde's story a great revelation. It has been generally widely assumed McFadden would go to the NFL after his junior season and hardly a scoop. The only breaking news with McFadden would be if he opted to return, and that isn't happening, and all connected to the UA program have known that all season.

Damn that Pat Forde for looking for stories.

Petrino is at Arkansas, and the fans, recruits and players are excited, and that is good news after a year of hateful bickering back and forth among Arkansas fans. One thing Forde seems to be doing is uniting a lot of people in Arkansas to turn their hate to ESPN. Everyone in Arkansas has known for a few weeks the ESPN media members were fans of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow through their very own Tim Tebow for Heisman campaign, but now they also know they aren't fans of Petrino. What a shocker.

Yep, ESPN won Tim Tebow the Heisman. You, sir, are a joke.

I honestly don't know why Arkansas fans are getting mad at media outlets for telling the truth. Petrino IS a Sac-O-Turds, for crying out loud. What he did was every bit as bad as Saban, and Arkansas fans had plenty of fun bashing Bama fans over that one.

David Byrne from the Talking Heads on the Petrino hire:

Quote:

Watch out you might get what you're after
Cool babies strange but not a stranger
I'm an ordinary guy
Burning down the house

Hold tight wait till the party's over
Hold tight We're in for nasty weather
There has got to be a way
Burning down the house

Here's your ticket pack your bag: time for jumpin' overboard
The transportation is here
Close enough but not too far, maybe you know where you are
Fightin' fire with fire

All wet hey you might need a raincoat
Shape down Dreams walking in broad daylight
Three hun-dred six-ty five de-grees
Burning down the house

It was once upon a place sometimes I listen to myself
Gonna come in first place
People on their way to work baby what did you except
Gonna burst into flame

My house S'out of the ordinary
That's right Don't want to hurt nobody
Some things sure can sweep me off my feet
Burning down the house

No visible means of support and you have not seen nothing yet
Everything's stuck together
I don't know what you expect staring into your TV set
Fighting fire with fire..

yeah its like i'm having an out of body experience after last year. and nobody should be suprised about the media, this is common. journalists feel they are entitled to the truth and they take ownership in that. when they are lied to, they feel scorned because they've been marginalized. in order to so what they do, they must beleive in the honor system of "i ask you question, you give me truthful response."

At least with Saban he was under NFL heat after multiple seasons. The big gripe with him seemed to be about the LSU situation.

It's hard to defend Petrino without there being much info on his whys & wherefores. Unless Atlanta is really that bad a situation that you want to run.

Tuberville walked on Ole Miss, acting like an ass. We fired Cutcliffe, acting like asses. Let's face it. Everyone is on this me first kick right now, and that includes you and me. We are all selfish, or almost all of us, and that includes the coaches. If we expect more of a coach than we expect of our first or second wife and even the third one, and of course our beloved employers, we are just kidding ourselves. We make heroes of winners, not good people. Of course Petrino is an ass. Most coaches are. But if he wins at Arkansas he will be a hero, again, and will be highly paid and sought after. So begins the circle, once more.

You get what you give. Tubbs gave us a bucket of manure and we dumped it on Cut. Now ain't we sweet.

Look what Southern Miss just did to Jeff Bower. The guy went to school there and had 14 straight winning seasons, worked for nothing, and they threw him out like garbage. Loyalty, hmmm, a forgotten word it seems. The schools don't give it nor do the coaches. I guess we are all just whores in the same bed. Depending on the price. :)

I'd like to know where this one came from as well. How exactly is Arkansas a waste of a school. Arkansas pissed off Nutt, good one. No your statements do not make me mad, I am honestly curious what your thoughts are behind that post.

Arkansas seems a good college to me, hardly a waste.

"Arkansas ranks in the top 62 national public universities."

ArkansasBusiness.com - Arkansas Colleges Impressive in U.S. News & World Report (http://www.arkansasbusiness.com/article.aspx?aID=99204.76182.111346)

Sam Walton College of Business ranks in the top 50, actually 41st, or in the top 24 among public business schools.

Academics - Sam M. Walton College of Business (http://waltoncollege.uark.edu/academics)

Looks like the wasteland has plenty of water to me. Besides, I like the Ozarks, lovely mountains, in a nice state.

Maybe more so, probably more so.

I hope Petrino doesn't leave Arky, it is a good job. But he's still pretty young, and could get some offers from bigger schools. I could certainly see him leaving.

I'm sorry. I don't really agree with raptor's post either, but yours is even more ridiculous. How exactly is/was Spurrier a "pissant liar"?
