Congrats to both Arkansas' MacFadden and Florida's Tebow for representing the SEC with class. Good luck to both. No doubt it will come down to one of the two SEC best.

I think history will be made with Tebow. One thing is for sure, the SEC will walk off the stage with the trophy tonight. We'll see within the next hour. Congrats to both schools!

It's got nothing to do with the Heisman trophy. It has to do with him thanking God for giving him the ability to be such a talented athlete, and at the same time (from what I can tell) be a pretty good representative of the faith.

You're probably right. After his NFL days, I can see him doing the same kind of thing as Wuerffel, who opened up a ministry and charity in New Orleans. Hopefully, his NFL career will be a little more noteworthy before he gets to that stage of his life. You know with anything Tim Tebow does, you can just add "to serve his Lord and Savior" to the end of the phrase and it would fit(provided it's not sinful or anything).

Guys like Tim Tebow are living examples of why it was good for his mom and dad to be pro-lifers. Thank you ESPN for educating me.

oh no the kind of guy your dealing with...please it's a sig, get over it. Last time a checked theirs nothing wrong with being agnostic.

Agnostic just means you're clueless...

One of my favorite Dane Cook bits...a guy sneezes on Dane and Dane says, "God Bless you"...the guys says, "no...I'm agnostic"....I believe that when I die...I'll go back into the earth...and maybe I'll come back as a tree." Dane says, "Cool...well, maybe they'll cut you down, grind you into pulp for paper...and print the Bible on you."

no being Agnostic means your keeping your options open on either end and when did Dane Cook become the authority on anything. I can't be 100% sure that jesus isn't real and you can't be 100% sure that he is.

Oh...but I am 100% sure Jesus is real. I'm as sure of it as I am that I love my wife and unborn child. I can't prove either to you...but I know both to be true.

dude you can't 100% sure he's real. You can think he's real. but you don't know for a fact he is. I know the sky will be blue tomorrow..I know for fact that I have an exam on thursday. But I don't know for sure that theirs a god. I'd rather keep my options open and learn about each religion and then make my decision on if theirs a god or not.

and since we're quoting people like Dane Cook. i'm going to throw one out there.
John Lennon-Imagine
"Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today "

sounds alright to me. I'm living my life for myself, I'm not going to base it off what someone else did .

That's called "free will", Emilio.

And I know that Jesus is real...again, I can't prove it...just like you can't prove that you love your mother/father/siblings...but I know it to be true.

I don't remember what philosopher used this example because I learned about it last year in a religions class:

A little kid one day asks his dad how he knows there is a God even though he can't see him. His dad responds by showing him an example. He takes a cup of water and pours some salt in the cup. The next day he has his kid look in the cup. He asks him, "you see the salt?" The kid looks in the glass and obviously says no. The dad then says, "see, just because you can't see something, doesn't mean it isn't there."

P.S. I am not trying to push my faith on you, Emilio. I just thought I would share with the others.

dude the whole salt/water experiment is just a matter of the salt dissolving. I honestly can't see what that has to do with god..but whatever

Honestly, which faith one has, is less important than just having one. Believing that there is something bigger or greater than yourself (human beings) is faith. Not having that is conceit.

That's true... fanatics aren't open-minded or open to suggestion. And most geniuses are skeptics, and also unteachable or open to suggestion. Both think they're always right, and refuse to consider the ideas or ideals of others. In the end, it makes both groups foolish.

Are you saying that we should believe in a higher power, or just something bigger than ourselves? For mine, I am not religious, but I am certainly not going to think that humans are the biggest thing out there. I'm in awe of the universe and what is contained within it regardless of how it came to be. I certainly don't put humanity on a pedestal - if anything, that is the domain of many religious folk who put humans down as the supreme creation of God.

Saying that those who do not believe in a higher power are conceited is a little bit much, IMO.

I completely agree. I have a hardtime believing that this "god" you believe in made humans as his supreme creation. Earth and the people on it aren't even a dot compared to the universe around us.

I'm saying people who consider themselves to be the greatest creation are conceited. I'm not religious, either; although I was raised Catholic. I haven't attended formal church for years; and feel like I can talk to who I consider God, any time and place I want. I'm also not saying anybody SHOULD believe in anything. What I'm saying is I've been both; and having no faith in something greater than myself was a miserable existence. Additionally, people who think they have complete control over everything in and around their lives, are setting themselves up for repeated disappointment. Because, if one thinks that, then he has no one to blame but himself should things not work out the way he planned; nor does he have anywhere to turn in times of need. I just believe things will continue to happen by design, despite my best efforts. I have free will, and can control some things; but, there will always be some things I can't affect; and if humans are all there is, we're in serious trouble. I consider myself more spiritual than religious. Religions get manipulated by humans to suit their specific needs and beliefs... that's why there are so many of them. As far as morality and righteousness, most religions agree on most of them; if you study them enough. Only the particulars and rituals are different.

It doesn't matter what you believe in as long as it gives you peace, courage, strength and hope. As long as it teaches you kindness and compassion. As long as there is something you are willing to admit is more important, more awesome than yourself. True, something bigger. My father always said all religion is just to make you a better person, and not to put down any. I always thought that was good advice. It can enrich your life to believe in something bigger, but it doesn't have to necessarily be the conventional idea of God.

People who easily disount the existence and miracles of Jesus Christ should really take some time to learn about the bible. The New Testament is a historical document that contains written accounts of at least 8 different indepent witnesses giving testimonials to what they saw. The earliest documentations found were written as early as 25 years after the death of Jesus Christ. Other hitorical documentations, non-christian, mention the existence of Jesus Christ. In fact, the new testament, by FAR, is the most accurate historical document that exist today. We see movies on Alexander the great and take it as fact word by word but the earliest know document of Alexander the great was written 500 years after his death. Even the most staunch evolutionists are now stating that there most likely is a supreme creator. They now beleive that the universe was created in less than a second from a mass as small as a marble. If that does not indicate a supernatural force at work, nothing does. Point is, there is much more evidence to beleive in the existence and documentation of the events surrounding Jesus Christ than there is to not beleive. I am not a religous person but I do beleive in the teachings of Christ as being devine and a guide to how we should live our life.
