I was just thinking about this today. If Les Miles wins the National Championship, he will be the 6th coach in the SEC to have won a National Title or gone undefeated in the SEC.
Coaches with a National Championship:
*Les Miles, LSU - 2007
Urban Meyer, Florida - 2006
Nick Saban, Alabama (won NC at LSU) - 2003
Phillip Fulmer, Tennessee - 1998
Steve Spurrier, South Carolina (won NC at UF)- 1996
*LSU plays in the BCS National Championship Game on January 7th, 2008.
Coaches with an undefeated SEC Season
Tommy Tuberville, Auburn - 2004
Think the SEC is a little bit tough?

Coaches in this league do have some astounding credentials. Les has a shot this season and several SEC teams should be in the running next year, including UF who has a good possibility of being a preseason #1.

Yeah... what would be the significance of listing past coaches who've won NC's or undefeated seasons? I think he's showing how tough the conference is now, in terms of quality of coaching.

Yea I believe I saw somewhere that Tuberville and Fulmer were the only current coaches with undefeated seasons in the SEC! That is crazy to me when you look at the talented coaches and teams we have. I know Myers did it with the Utes but that was the Mt. West conference.

Not to mention there are currently three past Bryant Award (NCOY) winners in the league right now:
2004: Tommy Tuberville
2003: Nick Saban
1994: Rich Brooks

Yeah, there are a few groups who give out the NCOY. Meyer's picked up a few:
2001 Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year
2003 The Sporting News National Coach of the Year
2003 Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year
2004 The Home Depot Coach of the Year Award
2004 George Munger Award for the Collegiate Coach of the Year presented by the Maxwell Club
2004 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year (presented by the Football Writers Association of America)
2004 Pro Football Weekly National Coach of the Year
2004 Woody Hayes Trophy Award (Presented by the Columbus Touchdown Club)
2004 Victor Award
2004 Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year
Here's another little tidbit: Meyer is 5-0 in bowl games.

The SEC is gonna be sick nasty next year but I honestly think we are gonna beat up each other even worse next year. Alot of the teams that are developing young talent that will really shine next year. I feel like the SEC east will be a be a death match of young talent.
