I know this ain't SEC but I don't know where to really fit this in but has anyone noticed that Notre Dame is in the Big East in every sport but Football. Does anyone know how they can get anyway with it??

Yes - they signed an agreement to be included in the Big East for every sport but football.
This was several years ago - before VA Tech, BC & Miami switched conferences I believe.
ND is really a better fit for the Big 10/11... I'm hoping that after this dismal season that they take a harder look at joining a conference outright.

They'll never do it, football-wise. They make too much money from their 'exclusive' TV contract w/NBC. They don't have to share that with anyone. Unless their won/loss record continues to tank, why should they? Plus, they are 'too good' to join a conference, if their mind-set...

Because they're Notre Dame, so stuff the rest of you? I believe that would be their attitude.
In time they'll see the light and join a conference, although for the time being while they're losing to the academies, they'd probably rather not.

I can't stand that the Big East has all those schools in it that don't play football. That just seems unfair to me. They should have to be in their own conference if they don't play all the sports that the other conference teams play. Notre Dame is gay. They shouldn't be allowed to be in a conference in one sport and not be in one for the other. If the Big 10 had any sense they would stop scheduling ND for games and that would force them to join. They won't do it on their own because they make WAY too much money as an independent. Did I say Notre Dame was gay? Notre Dame is gay.
Here is what i say...since they won't join a conf. then they should not be allowed to play in the NC ever. Since they can't win a Conf Championship no NC.

That is an interesting point if it ever came down to it. Fortunately the way they are playing they will never win a national championship because they suck.

KillerNut was just saying the other day that NBC is dropping them from that exclusive contract; and after this season, the BCS is looking foolish as well, for giving them preferential treatment. Hell, ND hasn't won a bowl game since 1994. They've lost 9 in a row, and didn't even come close to going to one this year; so, look for the them to be a little more receptive to the idea of joining the 10 in the coming years. They ain't the same special team that could stand firmly on their own like they used to be. Still plenty of money, but it, and their stature are plummeting fast.

I am surprised they did not jump into the top 25 and get a bowl game after their win against Duke.

I think because they are the Great Notre Dame, that they should be awarded the NC as long as they win at least one game per year! :laugh:

They joined the Big East because independents can no longer get into NCAA tourneys, so they had to do something or they would have been screwed. The NCAA lost control of football when Vince Dooley and Barry Switzer got together and sued the NCAA. The Big East should never have signed onto that but they are weak and did it for the money.
I think that independents should be forced to join conf. Hell if Notre Dame could get just a little better i think it would help them to join the big east.

Bottom line is they gonna stay put cuz they can make it to the NC where they at plus they got a contract with the BCS (if they finish in top 8 they get a automatic bid)

True i just find it disgusting that a program can do something like that to take the easy road. Maybe i'll write to the AD at GA to tell them they should do it LOL
