Old and lame joke. I really don't get the "bear" infatuation claims. I think most Bama fans aren't as bring up glory days as most say.

It's an old joke people have said for years and it's always annoyed me. No biggie.

people here don't generally hate alabama as much as they used to.
if you walk around utk campus, you hear more about people hating florida and georgia, not so much alabama.
that's why i haven't heard it before.

I guess I really need to get out more. This was the first time I have heard it. Of course, most people in Chicago don't know much about SEC football.

Mainly because people tend to hate the programs that are doing well. :)

Not trying to be rude and I don't really care that you said it but I hear lots of other fans mainly barners bring this up all the time. In all honesty I think the barners talk about Bear more than we do. To be honest, I've never really spoken of the Bear, I have spoken of our history before but never of Bear. I'm only 21, I wasn't even alive when he was so what does it matter to everyone?
Again, not pissed at you.

Funny joke.

The Bear one is funny too, but old. It probably doesn't seem like much to Bama fans, but I know I see the Bear everywhere, still. Maybe the media is mostly responsible for it, he always shows up in those highlight reels that are all current players and coaches, except for the Bear. And the always present houndstooth hats.

I don't think we will ever hear the word "Alabama" and not think of Bear Bryant and that amazing All-American kick returner from the 60's.....you know....Forrest Gump
