Interesting....I'll take a Ohio State-Oklahoma match-up on one side and a USC-Florida match-up on the other!! And someone actually thinks that a Playoff system wouldn't be exciting???? There's 2 games I'd pay to see!!

I'd love to see that matchup! No one would be complaining about wimp schedules when the winner makes it to the NC. But then where's the drama? I look forward to the day the playoff system is put into play.

I am anti-playoff. I think the playoffs themselves would be very exciting. However what about the regular season? If you had 16 teams in, the regular season wouldn't hold nearly the drama and excitement it currently holds.

The losses we saw last weekend wouldn't have captivated the nation in the way they did. Instead we would be saying "crappy loss but who cares because Mizzu and WVU are still going to be playing for a national title". You would also probably see some of the teams that would be for sure in the tourny resting players, even at the expense of a lower seed.

I think the playoff would cheapen the regular season and hence why I am against it. The most I could swallow would be a plus 1 format.

I disagree with you, but I respect your opinion. It is a valid point. The amazing thing about the playoffs is you would get a three week period of the most amazing match ups that we never see. You would get UGA vs. USC/Ohio St. vs. Tennessee/Oklahoma vs. LSU etc. . .

The thing that sucks about the bowls is it does an amazing job of avoiding the best match ups even in the national title game. I still think that the regular season would be as exciting as traditional rivalry games would always carry luster.

It is interesting that there has always been a talk of playoffs, but this is the first year I have ever seen mock brackets in the media. This is just going to whip up the public's desire for playoffs. More than 75% of the public wants a playoff. It is only a matter of time.

I'm with you there.

The only argument against playoffs that I can stomach is DEHIII's. The other arguments are rubbish.

Still, I think the time will come for a playoff, it's inevitable as people will become completely fed up with the uncertainty and chaos (as if they are not already).

It will especially be true with the advent of parity. It seems more teams are getting better. If teams like Boise St., Hawaii, and even Appy St. continue to improve then there will be continued anger from those teams at not having a shot.

It's only a matter of time before December Dementia! The only way for a true champion is a playoff system but I have a argument for the BCS system.....how in hell would you find suitable sites to play all the games??? One of the big benefits of the bowl system is that people can get tickets in advance because they know that there will be a bowl game every year. Plus it seems like it would a logistical nightmare for NCAA teams to arrange to go from place to place to play games. It just seems to me it would be terrible for a team to play at Boston College and then find out they have to go to Hawaii the next week on such a short notice. I think if there was gonna be a playoff system that neutral sites throughout country would be the best idea but then how do you determine who would play at what site? Playoffs would be great but just seem like it would be hard to work out with teams from all across the country.

I just don't understand how it "cheapens" the season. With the growing parity in college football, it's very unlikely that we will ever have 2 clear-cut, deserving teams play for the NT. The playoffs would be a way of "leveling the playing field" in terms of who's deserving of a shot. This year's a PERFECT example...you can make a case for at least 8 teams that they are deserving of at least a chance to play for it all. The latter games in a season become all about seeding and/or home field advantage making them even MORE relevant than what we currently have.
If you had a playoff, look how much more relevent last weeks games become...the Vols would be playing for a spot in the playoffs, LSU's playing to stay alive, OU and Mizzou are playing for home field advantage perhaps, and Mizzou has at least some consolation to their great regular season in the case of a loss. As it is, they are banished to a meaningless bowl game while a team they thoroughly beat the week before is undeservedly basking in the glow of a bowl they don't deserve.

I don't know...every other major sport seasons are enhanced because of a playoff. Games late in the year that otherwise would have very little meaningactually mean something in most cases. If, for instance, Kentucky was "on the bubble" and needed LSU to beat Arkansas to strengthen their case in that last game since they actually beat LSU....that's all good in my book. Especially when you consider that the bowls outside the BCS are virtually meaningless these days. If we still lived in the day where going to a bowl actually meant something and was a reward for a successful season, I might think differently. If even 20% of the bowls actually produced an intriguing match-up, I might think differently. I mean, how many bowls is ANYONE actually looking forward to watching?? I'll watch the NT Game, a few bowls on New Years Day, and the bowl the Vols play in, but for the rest?? Perhaps I'll watch a few minutes channel surfing, but that's about it. Playoffs are LONG over-due!!
