So my little brother wants to take up kicking and I'm not much of a kicker I was a QB/HB Mike Vick runner as a kid, so I was looking for big time kicking tips and everything anyone has to offer!

Excellent idea GatorU. The best football placekickers come from a soccer background. For me personally I found over-kicking to be an issue. I could get much more distance off of my kicks by walking up to the ball and putting a foot on it, as opposed to trying to kick it as hard as I could. Other than that, practice practice practice. Get him kicking on uprights and keep at it until he gets a feel for putting the ball through the pipes.

So the little turd is improving, and I simulate game situations for him to kick in and makes it real fun We went on to the MNC and won it but we had one loss to Arkansas he blew the lead missing to late game field goals and took a personal foul to beat the Cocks and another in the MNC haha it's a load of fun!

Instill cockiness and arrogance as soon as possible. And a short term memory, same as a DB's.
Brandon Coutu said kicking is similar to golf. You should swing about 80% as hard as you need to.

I am forcing the follow through big time, like a golf swing also my most important thing is him kicking it solid and following through after he gets it all down power will come.

just make sure you forbid any Martin Gramatica-style celebrations after every 25-yarder.

If someone was wanting to make the team and be a vital starter, the long snapper is the best shot. It's a skill/talent that can be learned and its doesn't carry as much pressure as a kicker does. That might be just me though...

What about rugby? There might not be any programs for him where you are, but you can get him interested. I love rugby b/c it's a mix of football and soccer...players can kick the ball at any time to play the field position game. If he sees those players making great kicks on the run, he might get inspired. Other than that, I'm sure you could find some videos or take some trips to a local highschool in the off-season to kick with the uprights.
I'm trying to get my little brother into playing football (9 y/o), but he only seems to be interested in kicking. He's been practicing, and everytime I make the trip back to Greenville, SC, he can boot that ball a little farther. Kids got a nasty arm though, and he's tall...a few weekends ago, I told him to stand sideways when he throws, how to hold the ball in the "cocked" poistion, how to step up and follow-through, and he really impressed me. The kid only likes to kick, though!

Put a small white X with white out or something on the football on the "sweet spot" where he should be kicking the ball( about 3/4ths down)
