It was the first college football game I've ever attended. Of course I was pulling for the Cards, being the home team and all. I made it pretty clear that I was an Alabama fan however.

We started out by sitting in the handicapped section with some unruly Knights fans, and oddly enough, a Michigan fan. Then moved to some seats where one of my sister's friends was sitting. Accompanying him was "The Wild One" Mike Shannon from 99.7 WDJX out of Louisville, who looked all too tame last night when the Cards were down 35-17.

Anywho, I was drunk out of my skull and screaming every obscenity known to man at the Rutgers fans. I came, I saw, I danced like a maniac with a Budweiser in my hand.

All in all it was a memorable experience. I even rushed the field after the game was over after Louisville came back and won 41-38. The turf is like walking on a marshmallow. But that may have been the effects of the booze.

Wow, he learned all the traits of a Bama fan and he's never even been to a Bama game.

Hey now. I could have gone to the game sober and had fun, but it was my first, so I decided to live it up. Besides, I leave for OSUT (One Station Unit Training) in Fort Knox, Ky on January 3rd. I'm having as much fun as I possibly can until then, when I enter 16 weeks of hell.

If you all didn't already know, I'm going to be a Cavalry Scout (19D) in the Army. It's 9 weeks of BCT and 7 weeks of AIT combined into 16 weeks of training with only a couple or so days off in between instead of two weeks.

You're AIT is shorter than Basic? Do you have any training after AIT or are you deployable after 16 weeks?

Doesn't seem too bad, if you survive Basic, AIT will be a cake walk. Good luck.

OSUT is a combination of BCT and AIT rolled together. It's not like going to BCT for nine weeks then AIT for seven. They are done simultaniously.

As far as I know I am deployable after the 16 week process of OSUT. The cool thing is, one of my options of where to be stationed is in Ft. Scofield (sp?) in Hawaii. Either that or Ft. Hood, Texas or somewhere in Washington state.

Thank you. It's probably one of the hardest decisions in my life to join the Army.

be sure and tell EVERYONE YOU KNOW to write you a letter as often as possible.....when they don't call your name at mail call it can make you feel lonelier than you should

theres always for some reason, puerto rican and black recruits who have a side gig, the Puerto Ricans shine boots for extra money and the black dudes starch and press uniforms....let them, its worth it, they do a killer job and it lets you rest more at night so make sure you don't go to basic broke, bring a few dollars
