This article linked below seems to say that the hiring of Nutt will produce a new rivalry due to the hate it will create from his hiring. Judging from the responses on this board Ole Miss fans are happy to have him and Arkansas fans seem to understand why he left and hold no anger to Nutt or Ole Miss. Is this just the opinion of the enlightened posters on this board and not representative of the masses of Arky and Ole Miss fans?
Nutt's hire at Ole Miss increases tension in taut SEC West - NCAA Football - Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news;_ylt=Ahfh_7eQc2c3sN0Y6c7C5qEcvrYF?slug=ap-mississippi-nutt&prov=ap&type=lgns)
I hope not. We need good strong competition to make us better but I don't think we need a blood fued, and I doubt Arkansas wants one either.
I believe there will be tensions, especially the first year or two, but it sounds to me the press is going to try and pump up this story. If one fan in ten says some outrageous things, those are the ones they will quote, not the other nine that are more reasonable. Do I want to beat Arkansas? you bet, but more than other teams, not really.
All I really see is just more interest here and over there in playing each other.

It will create a rivalry, regardless of whether Arkansas fans hate Nutt going to another SEC school or not. They're already Western rivals, this only adds to it. I mean, other than LSU, who does Arkansas really have a rivalry w/???

Dang, OM has to quit making rival games, Memphis, Alabama, Auburn , LSU, MSU and now Arky, that is half the schedule.. Heck it won't be long every game on the schedule will be a rival game,

Houston Nutt as Ole Miss' coach will return the Alabama / Ole Miss game back to proper place of reverence. We will soon be making comparisons to those games in the 60s when Vaught and Bryant remade their teams into national contenders.
Now that the season is over, it's remarkable to look at the giant step forward that the SEC has taken. Frequently the least team stood toe to toe with the best team in the league and delivered a TKO.
We may not like parity, but it's the best thing that has ever happened to the SEC.

I guess many of you are too young to realize it but back many years ago, the Ole Miss/ Arkie game was a huge rivalry. It was so intense, they quit playing for years. Then, it was around 1980 +/-, when Arkie was still in the SWC, they started playing again. I remember Fourcade was the q'back for Ole Miss and that game was played in Jackson. I was there with my new wife that was on the Arkie tennis team. After the disbanding of the SWC, Arkie joined the SEC as you all know and it was a regular season game.
At one time, it was as huge as the Ole Miss/LSU game.
Also, there was some comparison to the Ole Miss/Bama game. In case you didn't know, look it up. Vaught and Bahr didn't play that often. They were both scared of each other.

Well, it might create more interest. Especially if Ole Miss improves as expected.
MOST Arkansas fans are of the "Once a Razorback. Always a Razorback." mentality. That is unless said expat really did P/O the whole fanbase.
Don't be surprised if Nutt is given a standing ovation at either Razorback stadium when next we play.
Hogwired story (http://www.hogwired.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=6100&ATCLID=1329429) excerpt:
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) ....The Razorbacks spoiled former Arkansas assistant Mike Anderson's return to Bud Walton Arena. Anderson was on the Arkansas staff for 17 seasons under Nolan Richardson. He's now Missouri's coach.....
....Richardson was fired by Arkansas in 2002, and although Anderson interviewed for the job, Arkansas hired Stan Heath instead. Anderson became the coach at Alabama-Birmingham in 2002-03 and took over Missouri last season. One of his first big wins with the Tigers was an 86-64 home victory over Arkansas.
Anderson was coaching for the first time in the Razorbacks' home arena since he was briefly Arkansas' interim coach after Richardson's firing. He received a lengthy, warm ovation from the Arkansas fans when he was introduced before the game and showed his appreciation with a wave.....

Well we pi$$ed off Tenn when the archie who thing hit and they were the top ranked team in the nation. We ticked off Notre Dame and gave them their only loss in a national championship year (btw if i remember right msu beat wash st and they ended up #2 with only loss to msu that same year). Renewing a rivalry is nothing new.

Correct: Both teams perferred to play Tulane or Vanderbilt. Why ruin the season with a possible loss, and, especially, why risk injuries to your best players.

This is what we're hearing on Arkansas Sports talk radio. The fans that were pleased with Nutt's job, are saying they have another team to root for when they're not playing the Razorbacks. Then the Nutt haters and saying thank god, now he's Mississippi's problem. Boy do I feel sorry for them fans and what they are getting. Also from the haters, Why in the hell did we have a clause in his contract that he can coach another SEC West school after he resign here? And with that being saud, the lovers come back with...If the Haters were so sure Houston couldn't coach, why are they worried about him being at Ole Miss?
So far it's been a hoot. But mark this down. This is much more than Houston Nutt coaching Ole Miss. This is also about Houston Nutt knowing the surrounding talent pool and taking it from Arkansas. That is when the battle begins.
Good: We want all the talent he can borrow from Arkansas and Texas. They would be happier here any way.
