Throwing a football

I've been here for about four years and still haven't managed to work out how to throw a football. Any tips for a newbie? I can only make it helicopter or else spin end over end the way I throw it, which obviously isn't right! I'm trying to fit in here, and apparently throwing a football correctly is a good way to do that! :unsure:

roll your fingers off the ball when you release it.

I've tried doing that - I think as much as anything it's the direction my shoulder/hand points when I throw the ball. It's sort of an unintuitive action.

Australia. I grew up kicking a ball (no, not that round one), not throwing it. I guess I'd make a decent punter!

My best advice is not to try to put a spiral on it. If you try too hard, it won't work. And like with anything, just work with it.
