Just wait till the Press Conference. I can't imagine the bigwigs at Arkansas allowing him to move to another SEC school in the same year, fired or resigned.

The focus is on Rick Neuheisel, but there may be some momentum building for Texas Tech’s Mike Leach. That would seem to fit the desire for an offensive coach to cater to Jevan Snead. I don’t know Leach’s interest, if any, at this point. To believe he would leave for a lateral move indicates Ole Miss might be ready to spend big money.

Former Auburn coach and current TV analyst Terry Bowden has indicated an interest in a return to coaching, and his name has been connected with Ole Miss as well.

I would be worried if I were a Rebel... Recruiting is much harder in Mississippi than in Arkansas. I honestly doubt he could rise Ole Miss from the ashes. I think Ole Miss needs to go with a coordinator or a up and coming guy.

At some point today the rush to nab former Washington coach Rick Neuheisel as the replacement for fired Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron slowed. Now it appears Arkansas coach Houston Nutt will be offered a package of about $2 million a year.

The University of Arkansas has scheduled a 6:30 press conference at which it is believed that Nutt and the Razorbacks will part ways.

Houston Nutt, who will announce his resignation as Arkansas’ football coach at a press conference tonight in Fayetteville, has begun negotiating financial terms of a possible agreement to become Ole Miss’ next coach, multiple sources told The Commercial Appeal this afternoon.

Ole Miss fired Ed Orgeron on Saturday after three disappointing seasons, and athletics director Pete Boone hired Chuck Neinas, a well-known college sports consultant, to help assist in the school’s coaching search. But there is mutual interest between Nutt and Ole Miss, according to sources, and a deal could be struck early this week.

Nutt is expected to be joined at his press conference tonight by outgoing Arkansas athletics director Frank Broyles and chancellor John White. The announcement will come three days after Nutt led the Razorbacks to a 50-48 victory over then-No. 1 LSU and just one day after Nutt assessed his position at Arkansas as his “dream job.”

Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Rick Neuheisel, a former Colorado and Washington coach, surfaced as a potential candidate for the Ole Miss job over the weekend, but Nutt appears to be the firm frontrunner.

OM got the good of this deal. Mississippi puts out good HS players and Nutt can recruit. Unless Ark gets Davis, they may have screwed the pooch.
