Do you think Gailey will coach elsewhere or is he done as a coach period?

With his NFL connections, I would assume he could have an assistants job pretty much anywhere in the NFL.
A four million dollar buyout of his contract will soften his landing no matter what happens.

Nutt got over a 3 mil $ settlement. Apparently was offered a 2 yr. extension after the LSU game but declined it.

I would say that also if it were not for the fact that he is an Arkansas boy and Arkansas is his dream job. He wanted to be here and did a great job but the fractured fan base was hurting the program. Now he is leaving for the sake of the program because of a stink caused by a spoiled HS QB and his crazy mother.

As an outsider, I've always viewed Nutt as a quality coach who gets his team prepared and can whip anybody on any given day, no matter who it is or how high they are ranked. This is a real loss for Arkansas. Nutt is a solid coach. He will have Georgia Tech in the prime time soon enough. This is a loss for the SEC, IMO.

What a crazy time it has been. Well, they need to do everything they can to get Peterson before UCLA does.

Depending on who Arkansas gets to replace him, it could be a gain.....
One thing is for sure, at 6-1 in overtime games Houston Nutt is the best ovetime coach in the nation.

Mixed emotions. I have thought for some time that Nutt would not get us to the next level. On the other hand, we could get shafted like Ole Miss fans did. Whatever, after the way he flirted with Nebraska, then the next year with LSU he can do what he wants. Georgia Tech is a step down.
Nutt was putting up with way too much crap this year and last. Much of it was out of his control since he was obviously forced to hire Malzahn. Then again some of it was his fault. Oh well, good luck Houston.
Here's my take...if Kansas and Missouri can be at the top of the heap there is no reason Arkansas can't. Too many people talk about how hard it is to win here. I say nonsense. The right guy could get it done. Spurrier won at Duke!

I didn't see this thread and posted it in the Arky forum. Sigh. Start praying now. I don't want a complete moron as our next coach — and the way things have gone lately it might take one to want to come here.

Problem is, Missouri and Kansas would be 3 loss teams in the SEC even this year. This is not the Big 12. Its a whole nother level and UA has done good to be a competitive team in the SEC.

You don't like Pelphrey already?
I want CHRIS PETERSON, before UCLA gets him we need to throw the cash at him, BAMA style.

Another Pelphrey refers to our promises of a big name coach when we were delivered a coach that did above average at South Alabama and who I personally think will do no better than Stan Heath. I don't hate the guy, but it was a shitty situation, I still think we should have kept Heath.
I also think we should have kept Nutt. Let's hope we get somebody decent.

Oh yeah, I totally agree on that front. They need to find a replacement PRONTO. No pussy-footing around. They need to get a guy in there immediately. I really think they should throw the money, whatever they have got, at Chris Peterson at Boise St. I know you are thinking, not another Boise St. guy, but he is a great coach, and he is really into installing an innovative and 21st century spread offense. Nutt is a bruiser coach. Peterson is a Finess guy.
