I'm hoping for Count von Count personally.

I'd hate to see him go but they would be smart to look at Will Muschamp. Truth be told they should have never fired Cutcliff.

Seriously though, I think getting an established name this time around would a good way to go since the young up and comer thing didn't work out last time.

Here are my top three:

1-Mike Leach- Texas Tech HC

2- Chris Peterson- Boise State HC

3- Art Briles- Houston HC

I'm tired of talking about pass completions and yards rushing. I want to see some points on the scoreboard. (Besides theirs that is)

Terry Bowden - TV Analyst, Ex-Auburn Coach

I hope not. Too many pretty girls here for him to try to get in their pants like he did at Auburn.

Yeah and the buns at Auburn are not even nearly as pretty as the ones at Ole Miss. Na, count Bowden out of this one :D

Charlie Strong. I know, off the wall, but he knows SEC football and the recruiting hotspots here already, not to mention a black head coach would send a positive message that may befefit in yrs to come. He has a great resume, always has awesome defenses and has coached under some of the best. (Urban, Holtz, Spurs) Im suprised he's not a HC already. Just a thought.

It's looking like it's gonna be Houston Nutt if he accepts Ole Miss' deal.

Nutt out at Arkansas, interested in Rebel vacancy : Football : Commercial Appeal (http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2007/nov/26/arkansas-coach-nutt-announce-resignation/)

It seems so:

"As of now, sources I'm talking to at Ole Miss say Nutt is the frontrunner and things could happen soon (early as tomorrow) if terms can be reached."

I heard that he is being offered over 2 million a year. The Rebs are coming off of their wallets this time.

For 2 mil a year, we could do a hell of a lot better. I totally despise Houston Nutt. Although, a spastic monkey would be better than what we did have.

Dave, I gotta admit, I wasn't so gung-hoe on him at first either, but compared to alot of other available coaches out there, he is a good pick. He has consistently won at Arky and there is no reason he couldn't do the same at UM. I am not big on getting a guy that was ran out of town b/c of his personal life, but nowadays, every coach has some sort of history. At least his professional resume is clean enough.

Let's just count our blessings that we don't have to suffer another season under O, and if Houston is the next coach, let's support him and welcome him into the Rebel family.

I just don't understand what makes Nutt better than Nuehiesal.

the favor. He's wanting UCLA and has withdrawn his name from Ole Miss' list. Mike Leach would be a better choice for that kind of money.

To agree, Nutt isn't good enough to let Nueheisel's nuts rest on his chin.

I'll probably start going to cleveland and become a Fighting Okra. Just another botched hire by boone and khayat as far as I'm concerned. May their souls rest in football hell forever for what they've done to Ole Miss.

He gets offers every year; but we pay him quite well to stay. He's a great coach and recruiter, for sure. Arky would probably have a better shot at getting him than Ole Miss, since he's from Arkansas.

Nutt has some fantastic attributes, strong points, hiring justifications, sellable talents:

a) if you like good old fashioned southern pigskin than you have to love my man Mr. Nutt
b) the guy was a quarterback and a decent one, blue collar guy w/some flare....funny cuz that describes his philosophy as a coach
c) as far as personality the guy just drips authenticity.....you look in his eyes and you know the guy is telling the truth....and he knows what he's doin and he loves you for it...........thats attractive to young southern men, especially their parents and its a breath of fresh air to a fan or at least me dammit
d) he coached under one of the worst "overseers" in the business, good man but too much influence, Frank Broyles and had more success than any realistic razorback feels comfortable admitting................like KY and USCe, Arky is in a bad recruiting area losing so many quality athletes to LSU and Texas, etc, but Houston won regardless

timing is everything winning NC's and sometimes for those nontraditional NC winners the "Perfect Storm" has to take place.......senior laden team thats talented, no significant injuries all year, all the breaks/fumbles/blown calls, perfect schedule that included typically strong teams that ended up weak, etc, etc ........if doesnt all fall in place, you don't win the NC, you're not good enough.......

if I was an Ole Miss fan I'd like for his hire
