Oklahoma vs. Missouri for the Big 12 championship.
I would like to get an opinion on this game from our resident OU fan SoonerManiac. What do you expect to see from this game and do you think it will end up like last time. Thoughts? Predictions?
P.S. As you can tell by my sig, I am a Sooner fan this week! Boomer Sooner!

I really was impressed with Missouri. They came out fired up. I think they win next week and play in the National Championship. They will then meet West Virginia in the over rated bowl.

Here is what I've been hearing and it plays out something like a high school drama.
-MU players have been popping off in the media about how "they" lost the game in Norman. OU didn't win.
-OU players have said(to friends and family) that they are badly wanting to play MU again to prove them wrong.
-OU/MU fans are talking smack for the first time since...hell, ever. MU usually isn't much of a threat to OU.
-OU/MU fans both agree this could turn out to be a pick'em game.
-OU was very pissed off after the Tech game. Okay, by saying OU, I mean Bob Stoops was very pissed off that we couldn't run on a shitty Tech defense. That said, they stressed the run game in practice that week(also to prepare in case Bradford wasn't cleared).
-Result was they ran for over 300 yards on oSu and at will.
-Look for OU to stress the run again this week knowing that Bradford is back(making it a double edged sword) so that they can make Bradford that much more dangerous. MU however is not oSu, so don't expect the same results.
-I like OU's chances in this. We've been poor on the road, but in the one neutral site we played in(against Texas), we won. Both teams fans can agree that both teams played great games that day.
-That said, about 55-60% of the fans will be OU in San Antonio. We sold out on our allotment 2 weeks before the oSu game. Fans are buying the general tickets now.
BTW, have you heard anything on your fans buying tickets to the game to cheer for OU? lol, that was a rumor on the OU board.

Personally, I just want to see the OU defense put an end to all the Daniel talk. The 12 North has some of the worst pass defenses in the nation. He had a pretty big game in the last meeting, despite losing.

I have seen a lot of people joking about it on tOSU boards but it wouldn't surprise me if there were some tOSU fans that showed up there to root for OU. Why? Because after App St. beat Michigan, App St's merchandise sells went through the roof, especially in Columbus where it was reported that there were about 3,000 orders for App St. T-shirts in local sporting good stores.

I wouldn't mind getting one of those App. State shirts, too; if I could find one witty enough. That game was just further proof that their claims last year were ridiculous. Preseason #5... my left cojone.

It is difficult to beat a team twice in the same year. Although I think it is kind of unfair that Missouri has to prove itself again for the National Championship while OSU sits on their couch and watches, I am glad the game is on. I need something to watch at the bar after the SEC championship game is over.

Mizzou will be tough. Some key turnovers helped us late in the game. But the score was more or less 41-24 instead of 41-31 due to a TD in the waning seconds of the game.

This game should be highly entertaining as neither team has anything resembling a dominant defense. First one to 34 wins!! Missouri was "held" to 31 points in the earlier meeting this year and amazingly, that was their lowest point output of the year. For the Sooners, they scored 24 and 27 in their two losses this season.
The Sooners have been a difficult team to figure out....they look invincible at home, but less than average on the road. Their two losses were at Colorado and Texas Tech. Plus, they struggled mightily at a terrible Iowa State team and did just enough to survive Texas in the RRR. Their only other road game was against a decent Tulsa team...a game the Sooners dominated, but let's be honest...I'm not sure that really classifies as a "road game".
For Mizzou, aside from the game in Norman, they've defeated everyone on their schedule handily. That said, it hasn't exactly been a murderer's row type of schedule, but then again, they do have some pretty good wins sprinkled in.
Keys to the game...
The Sooners:
* Must be able to pressure Daniels. I know that some on this board think that only quarterbacks who play in the SEC are worthy of any praise, but Daniels is the real deal. If he has time, he will carve up the OU secondary all night!
* Bradford must show up. In the games OU has struggled in, Bradford has struggled. He doesn't need to try to match Daniels, but must make plays and avoid the mistakes.
* The home team must show up!! If they play like they do when they're at home, they'll be in good shape. Play like the Sooner team we've seen outside the cozy comforts of home and it will be a long night.
The Tigers:
* Protect Daniels. Keep him clean and enjoy the ride to the NT game!!
* Protect against the big play on defense. OU has a nice balanced attack that will not be stopped. The OU offense, however, is built to provide the quick strike. Keep everything in front of you and make them earn it.
* Minimize mistakes!! The Tigers self destructed in Norman ultimately costing them the game. The Tigers can not beat themselves.
Hard to believe that the #1 team in the country would be an underdog on a neutral field, but that's what we have. I just believe that Missouri is the more complete team and is playing better and more consistently right now. Chase Daniels IS the real deal and will get yet another chance to prove it. Until OU can play up to their hype outside of Norman, I'm not buying!!

OU has faced 6 top 15 offenses in the country. Even still, we are the 18th defense in the nation. Maybe it isn't "dominant", but you make it sound like we are not a good defensive team. Watch something other than SEC games and you might understand.
I liked that "survived" Texas. Although you are full of crap, it was a nice slant of yours on a game where OU and Texas played their best and OU came out on top.
Doesn't need to match Daniel? The guy has matched or beaten him in everything but yardage this year. And that is because we are a balanced attack. We don't fling the ball around like others do. Need I remind you, Bradford is the #1 QB in the land statistically, not Daniel.
Built to provide the quick strike? Not really. I'm not sure where you get this info, I mean honestly, OU has big plays, but what team doesn't? OU only takes deep shots when the defenses are inching up towards the LOS.
The Tigers were helped by Venables going to a 3man front. Our prevent halfway through the 2nd qtr and starting off in the third. They scored I think 3 times in that time frame. I wouldn't look for OU to go to a 3 man front again. Plus, you're only eating up what the media is telling you, which is only to get buts in the chairs to tune in.
You're entitled to your opinion. Hell, more power to you. But I'm assuming like most UT fans, you have a large disdain for OU. Which is fine, but it has skewed your opinion of the Sooners.
OU may lose. Hell, I think this game is a pick'em. But I wouldn't count OU out. We've outscored our opponents in the 4th qtr by twice as much.
OU's offense, in case you are curious, is a balanced attack. And you need to understand that Kevin Wilson(OC)'s idea of balance is different than everyone elses. We don't run the ball 50 times and pass the ball 50 times. His idea of balance is, if you have to run it, you can. If you have to pass it, you can. To him, that is balance.
Look for OU to run the ball down MU's throat. We will force feed them this until they can't stand anymore. Then by the 4th qtr, like LSU in '03, we'll dominate with the run game some more. That's why OU uses 3-4 Rbs every year.

I think Mizzou (Just as almost every #1 team has been this year) is overrated. Mizzou (only loss to OU) will not win this one. KU hadn't played anyone too strong so of course they looked good then they play a decent team and don't pull it off. Same will happen wwith Mizzou in this game IMO.
Also having OSU back into the Nat'l Championship game.

I don't think they will. I think OU beats an overrated Mizzu team, and tOSU gets another chance to beat the spread for a national title.
I like Bob Stoops to usually get it done in the big games. Bradford is healthy again, and they don't lose a beat with Murray out...Patrick can get it done, too.

Agree 100%
WV and OSU in the title game. 2 teams that don't have to play a conf. champ. game...........great. I think both are good teams but does either deserve it.
