What coaches will go to these vacancies? Here are some wild ideas...
Nebraska - Bo Pelini
Texas A & M - Mike Price
Michigan - Les Miles
Ole Miss - Jimbo Fisher
Baylor - Larry Blakeney
LSU - Steve Spurrier
South Carolina - Terry Bowden

Bo to NU is supposedly a done deal... wonder if Saban might be eying that LSU opening with all the delusional bammers coming after him.

spurrier will be at south carolina until he retires. He has said it many times. He promised his recruits last year he would be there until they graduated. He said he wanted to accomplish something at a school that has never been done and he can't do that at lsu.

Umm yeah . . don't think that's gonna happen. Spurrier isn't interested in a program where he can simply come in and win. He wants to build a strong program at Carolina like he did at Florida. He has no interest in a school that already has one. Plus he promised the fans and his recruits last year that he would be there all 4 years (5 for redshirts) that they played football. Spurrier isn't going anywhere.

One thing's for sure... I think LSU's usual top 10 recruiting class might falter a bit with the question mark around the coaching job... especially after Miles announces his resignation.

That wouldn't surprise me... I just hope Miles makes his decision ASAP so that we either get our guy in there or we know we still have one.

Nellanaesp,
Not so fast my friend! You never know for sure! Spurrier's not getting any younger; and I'm sure he's wanting another NC before he retires! (Seriously, he is probably looking forward to turning the LSU job down after LSU passed him up years ago. I'd probably do the same)
Also,
* I think Jimbo Fisher stays put with the hopes of taking over the Florida State job.
* Yeah, Miles will be moving up with the snow birds soon.
* I don't think the little Bowden will get another big time coaching job. Probably a lower tier school.
* Bo is a goner if all the reports are true about the Nebraska job.
* Someone said earlier today that Saban was trying to hire UL-Monroe's Charlie Weatherby as a Bama Assistant.
This should be an interesting couple of weeks ahead of us!

What's that saying?... "if ya can't beat 'em join 'em, then hire them to take over your program for when you flee to tLSU."
something like that...:ph34r::laugh:

I believe Terry will be coaching somewhere next year. I've read where he says he's ready to get back into CF.

I think Spurrier will leave South Carolina if LSU offers the HC job. He's not going to be able to turn S.Carolina into another Florida (get over it gamecock fans).

I know your team is invincible but you do have to come to us next year and it will be the same team basically as came to play you this year.

The same Carolina team that has lost 5 straight now? lol
Seriously, you guys will just keep getting better and better with each good recruiting class. You've always got a chance with the Spur man! Should be a great LSU/Carolina game at Carolina next year.

les isn't going anywhere for a long time.
i would be shocked and amazed is michigan goes after him at this point, esp with Carr having so much to do with the search, its pretty well known that he doesn't particularly care for Les. Les sure in the hell isn't going to resign from LSU, and LSU doesn't have the audacity to fire a coach winning 10+ games a year (IE: Nebraska, we all see how that turned out).
Les will be here for a long time, stick that in your pocket and save it for later. and personally thats ok with me as long as he dumps Bo and picks up a DC who knows what the F* a blitz is. i remember the 90's... championships would be damned nice, but you will not see me complain too much about a coach with a winning record like Miles.

Is that crack pipe you're smoking good? If it makes fantasies like this come true maybe I should take a puff. Spurrier isn't going anywhere, and LSU would be the last place he would want to go. Doesn't anyone learn anything? Remember last year when he was being considered for the Bama job? He's not going anywhere. Gauranteed.

Agreed. Sorry LSU fans, but it's a lot longer trip to Augusta National from Baton Rouge than it is from Columbia. Spurrier is committed to winning in SC and I know he'll get the job done, possibly later rather than sooner, but he will stay to see the fruition of his labor for the Gamecocks.

Everybody knows that LSU hates a coach that says he's gonna stay somewhere and then leaves. How many coaching stops would that be for Spurrier? No way LSU wants HIM!
Michigan does not want Miles. Ferentz will be their man. LSU is stuck with Miles. Could be a long year on the Bayou in 08.

Anyone who knows ANYTHING about Spurrier knows he is not looking for a quick championship. He hand picked Carolina, and he thinks as much of LSU as they do of him.
Spurrier isn't going to LSU because the golf is much better in SC. And that's it.

If Spurrier did leave I'd want to go after D'Antonio from Michigan State. He's a former USC player and I think he's going to be a heck of coach. We need someone loyal to the program.

But Dantonio hasn't exactly done anything special at MSU... he had a chance to have a good season this year with the mediocrity of Michigan and Notre Dame... but he just couldn't do it. I'm not sure I'd want a sub-par coach from the Big 10 taking over the reigns in the SEC.

This was his first year and John L. Smith didn't exactly leave the stable full up there. I think 7-5 was pretty respectable with what he had to work with.

I'm not saying it won't happen, but it just doesn't make sense. There are so many more ties between Georgia Tech and Arkansas, foremost being Frank Broyles. Although he may not have anything to do with the process at this point.
