So now at the conclusion of the regular season, let's discuss what we could see as far as the BCS bowls go, and other high profile bowls for the other SEC teams.

1. Rose Bowl: Pretty sure this one is going to be USC vs. Ohio State. Bleh.

2. Sugar Bowl: LSU vs. Hawaii. You know, for some reason I just don't envy the Tigers in this one. They have absolutely nothing to gain from this game. If they win, everyone will say "big deal, they were supposed to beat them." And if they lose, it will look terrible and ruin their reputation.

3. Fiesta Bowl: Kansas vs. Arizona State. Yayyyyyyyy.

4. Orange Bowl: Virginia Tech vs. Georgia: A rematch of the 2007 Chick-fil-A bowl, and likely with the same result. The Hokies will be shamed yet again by their masters from the better conference.

5. BCS National Title game: Missouri vs. West Virginia. This is going to happen, barring a WVU loss to Pitt (highly unlikely) or a Missouri loss to Oklahoma in the Big 12 title game (more likely, but Missouri isn't going to want to lose to OK for the 2nd time in the season, playing for all the cabbage).

Capital One Bowl: Florida vs. Illinois: The Gators face off against their old coach, giving this one plenty of drama.

Outback Bowl: Tennessee vs. Michigan: Vols fans will be licking their chops at the chance to embarrass the storied Wolverines.

Cotton Bowl: Oklahoma vs. Auburn. Payback for getting screwed out of the Nat'l title game.

Chick-fil-A Bowl: Kentucky vs. Clemson. Both teams fans' travel extremely well, and this would no doubt be a great match-up.

Music City Bowl: Mississippi State vs. Florida State. Croom and co. get a chance to take it to the Criminoles and establish dominance over another conference.

Independence Bowl: Alabama vs. Texas A&M. Bama fans might get a little consolation in getting a chance to take out their frustrations on Coach Fran's team.

Now, a Missouri loss to Oklahoma completely throws a wrench in all of this.

Bwahahahaha This bowl system is such garbage. It is nothing more than a lousy facade for for wimp teams with puny conferences to hide behind and make their wad of cash. God I can't wait for the days when SEC teams will have the opportunity to blast these punk posers. It so has nothing to do with determining the top teams in the country. LSU gets Hawaii and UGA gets VT. Screw you NCAA - you are so weak.

To tell you the truth, I would rather play Michigan or Illinois in the Capital One Bowl/ Outback. But I guess when you have the opportunity to win the SEC go ahead and take it, even if the road after sucks.

Georgia is 2006 LSU. Doesn't even win the division yet gets the best at large BCS shot.

We could actually play USC or another PAC-10 in the Sugar Bowl..Of course they would be a "at large", but it's still possibly we could play them

If OK beats mizzou, UGA has a good shot to face USC in the Rose.

Heck if Pitt beats WVU, we have a good shot at playing Ohio State in the nat'l title game!

^ Yes we do. My dad still has his 'Sh!t on Pitt!' button from the 1977 Sugar Bowl (1976 season)

That's not how we feel today...

Go Pitt! Go Sooners!

The sooners beating mizzou isn't a pipe dream, OU already did it once this year and could do it again. WVU losing to Pitt.... well, that's the pipe dream. But hey, App state beat Michigan!

I'm just being realistic. I'm calling UGA in the Allstate BCS Championship game a pipe dream.

I actually talked about that possibility a few weeks ago on another forum (I'd link it, but I don't know if that is considered spam)

OK probably will beat Mizzou; hell, it's better for us if they do (I'd rather be in the Rose than the Orange)

I just don't think Pitt can hang with WV. However, it IS the 'backyard brawl' - like AU v. Bama - anything can happen...

Hey, before this weekend, our chances looked good. If Arkansas hadn't beaten LSU, and UT had lost to UK... we would have had the opportunity to beat #1 LSU and jump Ohio State in the polls. Then all we would need is a likely OU win over Missouri.

But alas, it didn't happen that way. But I'm taking comfort in the fact that next year could very well be the year we return to the big game. This year I didn't expect us to finish as high as we did, so next year I'm hoping for great things.

Illinois has to be ranked 14th or higher for that to qualify for a BCS bowl, and they were only #17 in last weeks BCS poll.

Actually...the NCAA expanded that from 14 to 18 last week.. due to not enough selections possible, so Illinois is available at #17

BamaPerry.. Did you notice that projection has Miss State in 2 different bowls!! Jesus, how are we supposed to take the USA Today Seriously!! LMAO!

And looking at it closer.. this must have been done before yesterday's games... since K-State is listed on there.. and they are 5-7

UT will go to the Outback....UK had to beat them to get that chance.

The new rule goes into effect only if there aren't enough teams among the top 14 of the final BCS standings to fill 10 slots in the BCS National Championship Game, Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Fiesta Bowl and Rose Bowl.

^ that is from the article on espn - i don't think IL will make it, there will be plenty of teams to qualify this year

Yeah, I posted it last week.

i found it right after i posted - thought i got in the edit before anyone would see it, but i'm pretty sure the new rule will be a moot point, there should be enough teams from different conferences in the top 14 to keep the Illini out of the Rose Bowl.

If this happen I would be very surprised. Bowl officials look big at Geography. And who can bring in the big bucks. Keeping Florida in State would be wise, good call there with Michigan. But no way is the Cotton bowl happening as you have it. One Missouri wins against Oklahoma they are in the BCSNCG. If they lose, count on Oklahoma taking on Arkansas instead of Auburn.
As far as tour tradition goes in the rose bowl. If Ohio state does move up to play in the CG, I think the committee will look outside the Big 10 to find a USC opponent. Look for a Georgia or even Missouri. ANd god only knows why you have Illinois in a BCS bowl. They can't finish in the top ten?
As much as I would like it. I don't think Pitt has what it takes to beat West Virginia. So they are on the BCSCG. So that leaves Ohio State just sitting there while everyone else has to work for it. The only way I would want OSU in the CG, is it they would meet Georgia. And that would be another SEC beat down.

BCS National championship game
West Virginia - Missouri (Yawn)

Rose Bowl: Southern Cal - Ohio State
Sugar: LSU - Boston College
Orange: Virginia Tech - Florida
Fiesta: Kansas - Georgia

The way the BCS Top ten will look going into the bowls.

1. Missouri
2. West Virginia
3. Ohio State (Cupcake)
4. Georgia
5. Kansas
6. Virginia Tech
7. LSU
8. Southern Cal
9. Florida
10. Boston College

Barely missing cut
Hawaii, Arizona State, Illinois and Clemson
