Florida quarterback Tim Tebow played part of the second half of Saturday night's win over FSU with a broken right hand, Florida coach Urban Meyer confirmed Sunday morning.

Tebow did not sit down despite the injury and continued to run the football in the 45-12 win.

Meyer said Tebow will wear a cast on his right hand for two weeks.

“He'll be fine (for UF's bowl game),” Meyer said.

Tebow ran for two touchdowns and threw for three more, running his total to 51 touchdowns accounted for this season.

Thank GOD we have him!!!!!

Man...he's tough as nails. Remember, he played the entire second half of a game in HS with a broken leg...including running the game winning 20+yd TD.

I still don't understand these commentators during games whether it be CBS, ESPN or whatever. Every time they talk about the Heisman race they discuss the usual contenders from the begining of the year. Then it's like "Oh yeah, don't forget about Tebow at Florida. That kid his having a good year, we can't forget to mention his name." What the hell else does he have to do or how many records does he have to break before he is considered a top choice? If I were a Gator I would be pissed and perplexed!

What??! That sounds like an urban legend to me... sorry but you can't walk on a broken leg, much less run.

It's not the first time a football player has played on a broken leg. A hairline fracture is the same as a broken leg, and if it's broken in a certain way, it'll hurt pretty bad, but the break won't worsen, unless the leg is twisted and wrenched.

A break in the hand is the same thing. Cliff Matthews had a break in a small bone in his hand.

He did finish a high school game with a broken leg. Another famous Gator did it in the pros. In fact, Jack Youngblood, widely regarded by teammates and opponents as the toughest player they'd ever known, did this:

He is most famous for playing the entire 1979-1980 playoffs (including the 1980 Super Bowl) with a fractured left fibula. He also played in the 1980 Pro Bowl with the injured leg, a week after the Super Bowl. In the playoffs Youngblood sacked Roger Staubach near the sideline in the waning moments of the divisional playoff game versus the Dallas Cowboys. Playing with the cracked leg was noted by Sports Illustrated in their Top 10 list of athletes playing in pain.

As for Tebow not getting mentioned by the media, I don't know what versions of ESPN, CBS, and ABC anyone else is listening to, but Tebow has been the most talked about guy for the last 2 weeks. He was the only player I heard mentioned as the probable winner during every game I watched. Every commentator who has a vote, who's talked about it on the air, said they were voting for him. May and Holtz went with him this morning... May went so far as to say, "That is Tim Tebow's trophy, period.".

What are you calling a broken leg in this instance? You can't walk on a broken leg.

You're wrong DDD...you can walk on a broken leg...as long as the fracture in question is the fibula. There are two bones in the lower leg, one in the upper leg. The upper "leg bone" is the femur. You cannot walk with a broken femur. The lower leg is made up of two bones, the fibula and the tibia. The tibia is the bigger of the two. You cannot walk on a broken tibia either. Tebow had a complete break of his fibula....but continued to play...including running a 20+yd TD for the win. It's all factual and researchable.

Well I'll defer, seeing as how my lack of medical knowledge is gross... but when I think of a broken leg it's the kind that you can't stand on.

Understood. Let me say this, though...it is not "advised" to walk on a leg with a fracture, no matter what bone it involves.

Unless your name is Tim Tebow and the team needs you.

Insert new round of jokes here...

Tim Tebow breaks his own bones... he plays better mad.

I think the Colorado QB back in 91 played half the year with a broken fibula.
