This loss really hurt!!!!! I know that there is a ton of talk about Spurrier's top 10 Recruiting class this year and it looks like we are having another good recruiting outing now.

BUT,

I feel like the guys (coaches) kind of gave up on this season at about the 6-3 spot. There were solid Seniors on this team (ableit not many seniors period) and they really tried, but 'The ole ball coach' seemed to almost speak to the future too much.

and I tell ya, don't get me started on Clemson, with one of the easiest schedules in the nation and a coach that finished the BC game in the worst organized way possible, I just don't know how we gave them that game.

I give them credit, they played hard, not smart, and their athletes came through (kelley, David)

I think next year will be an awesome year, but I feel like we left something on the field.......

it seems now like the Vandy loss was a shock from which you could not recover.

Other than Cory Boyd, what seniors will we miss next year? This class had probably three solid seniors.

Unless Eric Hyman bullshits the people in Shreveport good enough to make them pick us over Bama.. it wont happen.. The At-Large senario is over.. since UCLA and TCU both won yesterday..

Sounds like Bamas Senior class! What few there were that contributed. Sounds like Saban & Spurrier faced the same kind of "internal" issues this year. Saban facing them is no big surprise, this being his 1st year. Kinda surprising Spurriers still dealing with them with his 3rd year just ending.

The injuries on the defensive side of the ball really caught up to us.. We lost (all on defense).. Jordin Lindsay, Justin Lindsay, Jasper Brinkley, Captain Mummerlyn, Nathan Pepper... When we played UGA... all of those guys were playing.. and making big plays on defense.. We were not deep enough to absorb all of those injuries..

Not to mention Carlos Thomas got injured in the 4th quarter. He was covering Aaron Kelly who caught 4 passes for 50 something yards on the last drive. It would have mattered if he was in there. We were playing Addison Williams, a freshmen on Kelley, I think thats the coaches mistake. Injuries are no excuses because every team faces them.

Yeah.. but at least yall are gonna go to a bowl game.. Our season is over..Yes but on a down note and the players will be dissapointed and I'm afraid not ready to play by not upgrading in bowl status this year when it looked so promising.......I fear we will get killed in a bowl game because of that.

I agree with UKAT, we will lose our bowl game unless we can luck into a "sexier" bowl game or opponent (there is an off chance that hte chickfila or cotton would pick us, but that is remote). Or, we may get lucky and draw FSU in the music city bowl and that would probably excite our team.

The seniors are Lou's players, and the juniors aren't much better because Spurrier's first class was pretty much a wash. There aren't a whole lot of guys left from that class. I guess we didn't have enough time to judge the character of those recruits. There's only so much you can do when you have 3 months to recruit. Thus, the majority of our playmakers are freshmen and sophomores. I'm giving Spurrier a break due to all of that, and it's likely to happen to Saban, too. It's just so daggum tough to win in this league when you can't rely on your older players to come through.

Andy Boyd, not as talented as Jared C, but he could block well

Casper Brinkley (not as good as Jasper(thank god for medical hardship to give him 1 more year) but he always played very hard

Cody Wells (on YOU-TUBE about 4 times for laying the wood and hustling)

Lanard Stafford

I firmly believe we should have won the game last night but take a look at Clemson's Offensive line, two senior tackles, 2 senior guards. To run the ball and stop the run, you need a great line on both sides of the ball. We started two freshman on our defensive line and only one senior on the offensive line.

Yep when I saw Carlos go down I knew Clemson could drive on us for a FG to win. Also Blake Mitchell threw a huge INT in the red zone...really dissapointing. Sometimes you got to take a sack.
Oh yea and we had two blocked punts. TWO. This is NCAA football. Words cannot describe my feelings. Well they can, but they're a lot of four letter words I can't post.

Won't be missed. The younger guys are better, and it will show next year. I'm not worried about missing Andy Boyd at all.

Casper Brinkley (not as good as Jasper(thank god for medical hardship to give him 1 more year) but he always played very hard

He always played hard, but we never had him in the right position. Our depth and inexperience at DE forced Casper to play DE instead of his natural position of LB. Once again, the younger guys will step up after all of this game experience, spring practice, and summer practice.

Cody Wells (on YOU-TUBE about 4 times for laying the wood and hustling)

Another guy who could lay a hit . . . provided he could shed a block and get into position. As weak as we were at LB this year, why didn't Cody Wells play more? There's a reason for it. He was good for about one good hit every three weeks, and that was it. Production from Wells will not be missed because it was nonexistent.

Lanard Stafford

I'll take Dimarco over Stafford, which is why Dimarco played more than Stafford as the year went on.

Forgive me if I missed something, but when did Blake throw an interception in the red zone? He threw one on the first play of the game, and then he threw one in Clemson's territory, but it led to a missed field goal. That's all, right?

I can say for sure that neither was totally his fault. The first pass was called from the bench and he threw it as far as he could hoping Kenny could pull it in, didn't work out, but did later. The second one was caused when the protection broke down and it flipped right to the Clemson guy who was standing in the right place. Like I said in another post, this year the ball did not bounce our way like it did last year. Had it done so we could be 9-3 instead of 6-6. That is football.

I am right there with both of you (USC RULES & Williams-Brice). The Clean Spurrier house is next year, and to WB's point, REALLY THE YEAR AFTER.

My inlaws are all Clemson so I will have to live with it for another year.... Oh well.
but they are losing 4 front line guys and 2 solid Linebackers

I agree but don't forget the yankee carolina game and how we barely took care of a bad tarhole team. I sensed the team lost it after that.

I must be mixed up, I was pretty far gone at that game. I think the pass would have put us in the red zone if completed...something like that. Again, I could be completely wrong, I was at a bad angle in WB. Blake's last throw that put us up by 1 was nothing short of beautiful, and it's not his fault we lost. Our SEC schedule just pounded the heck out of our defense. When Thomas went down, Clemson knew what to do.

Hopefully this will help many of our young SOS recruits grow. A great man once said
“That's what learning is, after all; not whether we lose the game, but how we lose and how we've changed because of it and what we take away from it that we never had before, to apply to other games. Losing, in a curious way, is winning.”

Blake's 2 INTS.. First one.. (First place of the game).. he had one on one coverage.. Blake was supposed to throw it towards the sideline.. he threw it towards the seem.. That was like a punt.. and the Clemson guy Intercepted it around the 20 yard line..

the 2nd one.. Mitchell got hit.. and the ball popped out right to the Clemson defended (On our own 30 yard line). Clemson missed a FG after getting the ball..

The one play that I think was the game changer was the blocked punt for a touchdown. I like Mike Davis, but he side stepped the block and allowed the guy to go straight to Succop.

No doubt. 50 of the 85 scholarship players next Fall will be Sabans recruits. We have a monster class coming in this year and 09 even looks better. The State of Alabama is loaded those two years. I believe we redshirted all but four of the Freshman last year so you're looking at 46 of the 85 being Freshman or RS Freshman. Shula had some pretty good signees his last two years so we're optimistic. Also had some players that were treated like the place was a country club, which is why Saban will cut 12-15 players in the offseason, their scholarships won't be renewed. I wonder if Spurrier had to do that?

Spurrier did not renew the scholarships of about 15 players before his first season here for the exact same reason. It all had to do with work ethic. Plus, he terminated the scholarships of star RB Demetris Summers for drugs and star DE Moe Thompson for criminal charges. That's around 20 players right there; nearly one full class of players! Then, figure into the fact that Lou Holtz's last two classes had 18 guys who had an offer from only one BCS conference school . . . South Carolina. Spurrier inherited virtually no talent, and what little was here was cut due to their poor attitudes and work ethics.

It sucks for the present, but if you are going to do things your way and build a program the right way, then it's something that absolutely has to be done.

From the recruiting aspect:

Isn't it amazing that we have so many commits(good ones to) or very positive comments from the recruits that we brought in for the FL and Clemson games.

I was at both games and they were very exciting, so I guess they were impressed with our fan base and the effort we played with. That is my only guess

YES,
CORRECTOMONDO!!!!!!!!!!:thumpsup::thumpsup:
Many people IGNOR, or over look this FACT.
He kicked off the thieves, druggies and the wantabe's with poor attitudes and work ethics QUICKLY !
He did just as I suspected that he would when I got whispers of his possible intrest in USC beginning in the late spring of Holtz's last oncomming season. Steve is a strait up guy, who doesn't put up with the BS. ALWAYS HAS BEEN !
GOOD POST Williams-Brice Thats exactly what I have said all along.
The future is BRIGHT at USC, Maybe we need to buy some SUN SHADES !
