with some folks that actually work in the AD's office and in the football office. They don't know anything. Several names are popping up as per the norm. One is Houston Nutt. Dennis Francione's name keeps popping up more than anyone else.
It's anyone's guess right now. What I believe we need after all Ole Miss fans have gone through in the past 8 years to keep dividing the family is for someone that is more of a pr person than a head coach. Some one that can circle the wagons and get a united front.
The things that have divided the fans, good or bad, is:
1. The flag
2. our mascot
3. stupid hire after stupid hire
4. being force fed by the folks that were on Vaught's staff for years
Like I said, some of the changes might have needed to have been made but they've further divided the family and it continues.
One such person that could unite would be Rick Neuheisel. Biggest problem with him is he's been out of the college ranks too long.
Mike Leech would be a good choice with the talent we have in place right now. We have a spread q'back in Sneed and some good receivers.
Bottom line, if anyone knows, they're not saying.
As soon as this hire is made, and I think it'll be a quick one, Boone is going to retire to take some heat off Robert Khayat. Robert needs a couple more years to get full retirement so that's what he's shooting for and Boone doesn't need the money.
I'll take a pass on Francione. Of the two I would prefer Nutt, but, of course, they won't be asking me. Good to see Boone gone though. He is the father of this whole disaster.
I will say this for O. It wasn't his fault, he just wanted to be a head coach, and I certainly don't doubt his effort and desire to succeed, but, he wasn't head coach material and Boone should have seen that. I hope O can find a new situation, possibly as a defensive coordinator and this time spend 4-5 years learning about how to make important decisions. As a line coach he just wasn't prepared for the job of being THE decider. I wish him well, he worked very hard at the job he most wanted to do, head coach.

being offered.
Lots of the big money folks are behind him. In fact, Dickie Scruggs helped him in his lawsuit against the NCAA, which he won. My biggest problem might be the length of time he's been out of college football. He's great with working with quarterbacks and could develop Sneed into something very special.
Mike McIntyre's name keeps popping up along with Leech.
Leach sure puts points on the board. But would he come here. I imagine that a lot of promises would have to be made about football budget and commitment to winning, and I mean $$$$$ not just lip service. I think this time we have to do it right or we will be Vanderbilt.

If we don't do this right, we might as well drop out of the SEC, drop down to D1AA and just have fun with sports.

I just looked at Mike Leach and his info. Right now he is being paid $1,650,000 at Texas Tech. There are probably some bonus clauses built into that contract also. Looks like if we want him it would cost $2 million plus. I agree with you. It's time to get serious, again, or move to conference USA or whatever. Do it first rate, or go out the gate and let Vaught and the big years be our history. This half in half out is nonsense.

So do "us all" a favour and go back discussing your own issue some place else on a totally different level and let "us all" take care of our business ourselves. What about that? Deal?

Mike Leach would be great for Ole Miss and the SEC. He would be at the top of my list, make him an offer he cant refuse, big money, but long term with a bigtime buyout. Good luck guys, make this one count.
