Was yesterdays win over #1 ranked LSU, was the Hail Mary finish Houston Nutt needed to save his job? Or did his player's rally around their head coach knowing as a team he had made the decision to not return next year.
Lot of questions will no doubt be answered in the following days in this soap opera that's been ongoing for a couple of years now. One would ask, why return to large numbers of fans that spew hate toward you, your staff, players and family?
With yesterdays win, I think that raised Nutts stock to the degree he has to take advantage of it. I feel for the guy. I know it's has to be hard on him being a Arkansan and having family here along with thousands of friends. But it's getting to the point where it's unhealthy.
I don't think it would be worth the money to him, for him to stay for the bonus in his contract. Lots of talk from media that he won't quit so he would lose out on the money owed him by the University. I say poppy cock. And man's health and the happiness of his family means more than spite, for a pay check. Although he may be bitter enough to just the opposite, we will have to wait and see.
I do know this, the reason I personally have lost hope for Houston was because of the major change we seen in his style. It was as if someone held a gun to his back, informing him what calls to make, and when to sit on it. The attitude of playing not to lose was my biggest beef. But the guy I seen on the sidelines yesterday, who stayed aggressive was the guy I wanted Arkansas to hire from Boise State 10 years ago. Houston got back to his old ways yesterday. And the nation seen what his effect on young men was. He loves his players and they return the love for playing for him.
That coaching style which were seen on the Hog sidelines yesterday is what fans are craving. And if it were shown more often in 2007, they would have been thousands of less Nutt haters today.
