>insert YAWN here< Scout is corrupted by the likes of Tom Lemming and other 'expert' recruiting 'gurus' who have their own agenda to make certain teams' classes sound better than they are. Even more important, those same 'experts' have long been known to use their positions that allows them to have direct contact with recruits & use it to sway them to/from one program to another.

Tom Lemming has more smoke surrounding him than the fires in California when it comes to swaying recruits toward ND & southern cal and if they do, they have a good chance at getting another star, if they don't, they either lose a star or get told why the program they chose isn't as good as the two mentioned. All you gotta do is google lemming and improprieties and you'll find all kinds of cases where his name's been tied to recruiting allegations.

Scout's biased. Rivals isn't perfect. Only the coaches of your chosen program and their scouting abilities and what they need to fit their system really count.

Well, when you look at the rankings and opinions on all the players, it seems like they're always pretty much the same as Rivals. I don't even know who Lemming is; and he must not have all the pull, or his assessments would be significantly different than the ones found on Rivals. Additionally, he'd have to be able to be in about a thousand different locations at once to wield the kind of power you're talking about. In any event, I pay more attention to what's said in my team's section of the site. And, as I said, those stories are usually only for paid subscribers, and they're free this weekend. I've never read anything from this Lemming guy in our forum; but, I'll take your word for it. Just thought some folks would like to read some insider stories on their teams.

It is a good thing to pass along. Others may find this info interesting and at the very least, entertaining.

Oh, I know. Quite a few people on this site consider Scout to be a much better recruiting service than Rivals. SuperPrep was around before some of the guys contributing to Rivals were even born.

Lemming's one of the guys who started Scout, if I'm not mistaken...or he's at least a guy who does carry a lot of pull when it comes to rating recruits. Like Rivals, Scout collect videos and scout reports and has just a select few of the organization review all the info and assign a star ranking. And trust me, if UF and ND were head-to-head on a recruit and you have Lemming interviewing the guy and propping ND once the microphones are turned off, you'd change your opinion a little bit. He's been accused if it more than few times, several recruits have said as much after the process ended & they signed elsewhere and there are all kinds of instances where a 3-star on Rivals AND scouts suddenly becomes a 4-star on Scouts & stays 3-star on Rivals if said recruit signs with ND. You'll see Lemming all over CSTV on TV when anything recruiting comes up, you'll see him all over the Army All-American game (aka: southern california/nd commit bowl), and any ESPN recruiting special...and he's ALWAYS propping up the ND commits, leans and guys considering ND. Trust me, it's a serious conflict of interest and it's been smoldering for years.

There are even stories where recruits who interviewed with Lemming during the recruiting process have said that he'd make sure their name was put out there more if they keep ND in their top 3 even if they had no intention of going there.

I'm not on a crusade but this guy is no better than an agent who gets into a sophmore player's head and gets him to believe he's ready to go pro when he's clearly not. To me, if he has allegiances or bias toward certain programs, he shouldn't be allowed to have direct contact with them. Maybe UF doesn't go head-to-head with ND or southern cal but if they do and you hear Tom Lemming's name in any report on that recruit, be worried that there's probably influencing going on behind the scenes. Ask Illinois and the Zookster about Lemming trying to get Arrellious Benn to not decommitt from ND in favor of Illinois last year.

I'm tellin' ya, I've lived up here (Big Teneleven country) all my life and I've heard of this guy since I was a kid. He's been hated by all people non-ND and non-southern cal for as long as I can remember cuz it's known that he tries to pump up ND's program and tear down other programs when he's talking to recruits. If that's one of Scout's main guys, on the upper-echelon of their "experts" panel...I'd rather not give them the hits they're looking for by offering a free weekend.

I don't doubt what you say... I'm just saying that what is written about the teams over there isn't all written by him; and that people might like to read about some of the stuff they normally couldn't. I haven't seen him contribute to any UF stories, although he certainly may have. I primarily like the game-day observations and notes, anyway. I really don't care what some "guru" on any site has to say about prospects. At least for this weekend, I can read what Meyer and our recruiters say about our class.
