Why do teams insist on firing coaches in the middle of the season? It doesn't help the team to fire the coach with a few games left. Just wait and announce it after the season. What kind of motivation is there for the players or the coach? This is bad business IMO. They did it to Zook which was dumb as well as this is. It doesn't matter if everyone knew it was coming... just wait.

And if he resigned, it should have been kept quiet until after the last game. Either way, fired, resigned, accepted other position, keep it under wraps until after the season. That's how it should be and I'm so confused on why it isn't that way.

For example, UT. No confirmed information or released information for their coach although it may be likely that he is fired or leaves at the end of this season. Let the coach go out with dignity and not tarnish the players motivation to keep playing hard until the end of the season. It never works well when a coaches termination comes right before a game.

But when you look at the number of high-profile coaching jobs that may come open, and when you consider that ARK is likely to get lost in the shuffle once the feeding frenzy commences, I can see why Ark might want to go ahead and get the ball rolling.

I seen on I think CBS 1/2 time show one of the guys said "I heard strait from the horses mouth that Nutt is out and he doesn't know about it". Then Nutt denied it, and Jeff Long who's taking over for Broyles has no comment... Makes me think Long has someone in mind who he thinks will make the fans happy, b/c they all want a BIG NAME coach. I wonder if Dave Wandstat (? spelling) might come from Pitt......

^Wannstadt would be the only coach I can think of who may just be a downgrade from Houston Nutt. Arky can do better than that....I hope they call and push hard for Butch Davis personally though I don't see him leaving UNC just yet.
