If you could somehow have had one player back from last year for this year, who would it have been? It can be anybody, but it can only be from last year.
My answer: Syvelle Newton hands down (Sidney Rice is a very decent 2nd though)

I guess it would have to be Jeremy Clarke, IMO. He would of made the biggest impact, given that we need some experienced depth on the Defensive Line. Other than him or Dominic Lee, I really can't think of anyone else. Maybe Le'Ron McClain...he was a outstanding blocker for us...

no question about this one, Patrick Willis.. if we had him this year we'd def be bowl eligible at 7 wins currently

Reggie Nelson. We'd be 8-2 or better if we had him back:brick:

absolutely 100% no question Robert Meachem.
if you had to ask who the person would be who you're suprised you don't miss, that would easily be Arron Sears.
Paul Oliver. He was the #1 cornerback in the nation coming into the season, but he failed to make the academic requirements to stay on the team, so he went to the NFL. Never played his senior year.

who said he was the #1 fs? georgiadogs.com considered him a weakside corner

I say Charles Johnson. We were struggling for a pass rusher in the early weeks of the season.

I agree with Dmldawg, Charles Johnson could have had a monster senior year if he had stayed.

Mitch Mustain... Never thought I'd say that.

Shoot...we'd be 10-0 with RFN...Auburn and LSU wouldn't have been getting those easy 1st downs in the soft-zone because with RFN...we play man-up. And Stafford wouldn't have open WRs downfield to throw bombs to. RFN is one of the main reasons we won the NC last season. BTW, have you seen him playing in the NFL...he's killing people!!!

Note my fav NFL team GH! He is doing awesome. But to be fair... guns also kill people:thumpsup:

I actually think it would be a toss up between Reggie Nelson and Marcus Thomas. The reason for Nelson is obvious, but I really think with the kind of push up front that Thomas used to get and the run stuffing ability he had, opposing quarterbacks wouldn't have much time to throw anyway. I'd give a slight edge to Reggie Nelson, but Thomas was probably the second best player on our team last year before he got the boot.

I'd have to go with LaRon Landry.

Really? Over JaMarcus Russell?

I know marcus monk is here this year but he hasnt really played at all, i wish he was back at the same intensity he was last year.
Other than monk, its a toss up between Jamal anderson, chris houston or sam olajubutu. We really took alot of our defensive players for granted last year.

Dwayne Bowe or Craig Davis. Jamarcus Russel wouldn't make that much of a difference with receivers dropping passes.

Yep. If I had to choose one, I'd leave JR where he is. We have a good quarterback in Flynn and RP is a nice one to have on deck, but we need a shot in the arm on Defense. That's why I would go with Landry.

Ike Crofoot. Starting long snapper. I miss that little guy.

I guess I would have to say either Dominic Lee or Jeremy Clark considering how thin we are on the d-line.
However the best player we lost was LeRon McClain and he certainly could make a big difference in being a lead blocker for Grant.
Other then that, there are not many people we lost from last year that would have any big impact on this team this year.

I wouldn't want anyone from the Bama class of '06. We have filled the very few positions that we've lost

I'd take a healthy Justin Harrell over any of last season's Vols. A dee tackle that can push the pocket and absolutely stuff the run is invaluable. Meacham would be second for me.

Omarr Conner. He could throw as well as Carroll and was also a great mobile QB. We could have used that experience and talent this season.

Olajabutu just edges Anderson in my book. Hard to pick from a guy who is in on every play or the sack threat. We don't have either this year. Do you ever hear anyone mention a particular player on our defense?
Too bad this thread wasn't "Who do you want from two years ago." Then it would be Matt Jones.

Well, seeing as how our offensive line is pushed backwards too damn much, I'd have to say Ben Grubbs; OG that went in the first round of '07 to the Ravens.
Not far behind him is Kenny Irons...

The "Eraser" for sure. We're getting killed where he'd be lurking if he were still at UF. Not only would he be handling the outfield, RB's would be regretting breaking through the line. I agree with GH... I think we'd be undefeated with that one guy back.

I would take Henig. Hahahahahhahahhhhaaaahhhahahha
Norwood would be nice to have back event though we have a really good run game this year. I think Conner should have been a better WR than he was.
