Judging by your poll...UGA goes to the SEC CG and loses to LSU. If that happens...Florida will likely be ranked higher...Sugar Bowl would likely choose UF over UGA.

Actually, I think that UGA will go to the Sugar Bowl if they win out and don't play in the SEC Championship.

I heard from someone that the Liberty bowl was set on State.

Before the season, I predicted Bama to go 8-4 and play Clemson in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl. If we can somehow beat Auburn, that might be exactly what happens. I wish I would have written that prediction down or something because now no one will believe me.

I think UT wins out and makes it to Atlanta, where they will lose to LSU, thus giving the Vols a 4th loss, while UGA will only have 2 losses, seding the Dawgs to the Sugar Bowl and putting UT into either the Capital One Bowl or the Outback Bowl. Probably the Capital One Bowl since they were in the Outback Bowl last year. I don't think the SEC East champ would drop as far as the Outback Bowl.

For Bama, I think it's down to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl or the Music City Bowl. Assuming we make it past La. Monroe, if we beat Auburn... Chick-Fil-A. If we lose to Auburn... Music City. There's an outside chance that we could make it to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl if we beat Auburn but I don't think it is likely.

I agree to an extent but Kansas is much better than Hawaii.

Good projections, but if SoCal wins out and say kansas gets beat by mizzou and OU in the big 12 title game, theyll probably hop in, theres alot more socal fans that KU ones, and bowls are about getting alot of people to come

Perhaps. But SoCal loses any chance of a BCS berth if they lose at Arizona State next weekend.

I'm pretty sure the Rose bowl has a contractual obligation to take the Pac-10 and Big-10 champion if they are not in the national championship game. Also Kansas plays Missouri the last game of the year so one of them will be knocked out of a BCS bowl. Then the winner plays Oklahoma in the Big XII championship game so that would eliminate the other (or Oklahoma).

Not really. Kansas, Oklahoma and Mizzou hold #3, 4 and 5 in the BCS hostage. If Kansas loses to Mizzou, they won't fall out of the top 10, and if Mizzou then loses to Oklahoma, they will not fall out either. Because of how high they are all ranked, even if 2 of them suffer 1 more loss, they will likely remain BCS eligible.

I wasn't aware of the Rose bowl contractual obligations... if that's the case then I'd simply switch Missouri and Ohio State where I put them.

Dan,

The winner of the Ohio State / Michigan game is a lock for the Rose Bowl againist either USC or Oregon parring a loss. The Orange Bowl is the ACC champion vs. an At Large. They change some of these rules for the BCS bowl game depending on the availablity of the teams.

Yes, someone brought this to my attention. In that case I just switch Missouri and Ohio State.

Either way. If UT wins out and goes to the SECCG, we go to the Sugar bowl after UT loses and falls out of the rankings (they are 20th right now). If we end up in the SECCG, we beat LSU. Simple as that.

what if mississippi state wins out, that would mean we would be 8-4 and 2nd in the sec west behind LSU, shouldn't we get the cotton bowl or something like that. I think its very possible we can win out.

oh, and just to throw this out there, michigan REALLY doesn't wanna play us in the outback bowl. circa 2001, they couldn't handle us in tampa. they are definitely wanting the rose bowl, but #2 is definitely going to capital one to avoid outback

You guys should be fine as your talent is superior to everyone you play next year that's not Florida, but that's one of the most brutal schedules I've seen in quite a while. Atleast Georgia Tech should be a bit down, but Arizona State will be a tough OOC opponent, but @SC won't be exactly easy

If we win out, and that's a big IF, I think the Cotton would be hard pressed not to pick us, but more than likely I think if we win out we'll probally wind up in the Peach Bowl which will be fine with me since I have a free place to stay in Atlanta.

i think we should win out...with the way we have been playing lately, i think we would be the favorites to win the next 2 games. Our defense is stout and we can muster up enough offense to win the next 2 games.

The big 12 can't / won't have 3 teams in the BCS. So whoever goes to the Big 12 Championship game and loses (probably Missouri or Kansas) will fall from the BCS and into the next Big 12 Bowl (I think either the Holiday Bowl or the Alamo Bowl or the Cotton Bowl).

As for Miss State, if they win out and end the regular season 8-4. I think that they will either go to the Cotton Bowl or to the Liberty Bowl. Both bowls prefer SEC west teams. Assuming that bama beats La Monroe this week then whoever wins the iron bowl will be 8-4 & probably go to the Chick-fil-a Bowl. No offense to the State fans but either Auburn or bama would sell more tickets and send more fans to Atlanta. Unfortunately thats what the bowl system is all about. So even though State beat both teams from the state of Alabama this year they probably won't go to Atlanta.

Mississippi State has set all the Peach Bowl records for attendance or at least we had the record the last time we went which was in '99 against Clemson. Either way, with this being our first bowl in some years I would bet you that our teams allotment of Bowl Tickets will probally sell out within a couple of hours of going on sale.

SEC Bowls:

Nat'l Championship: LSU
Sugar: Georgia
Capital One: Tennessee
Outback: Florida
Cotton: Auburn
Peach: Bama
Liberty: South Carolina
Music City: Kentucky
Independence: Mississippi State
The Firing of Coach O: Ole Miss

Explanation: I see LSU, UT, and Georgia winning out. It is hard to say this, but I don't see Tennessee beating LSU in Atlanta. Although it isn't right, Georgia will get the bid to the Sugar because Tennessee will have 4 losses. The Outback and Peach will not give a bid to UT because of poor past performances. The Cotton is usually an SEC West bowl because of travel with the exception of taking UT twice in the past. Peach will take Bama in a hurry because of the short drive, and a lot of fans will be in attendence for Saban's first bowl.

Well, if we were to beat ULM and Auburn...we should end up in the Cotton. If we were to lose to Auburn, I would be ecstatic to play in the Chick-Fil-A bowl. However, I think we would drop to the Liberty.

Does anyone actually think that Bama will make the C-F-A bowl, if we were to lose in Auburn?

GvilleDave

I think whoever wins the Iron bowl (8-4 record) either goes to the Chick-fil-a Bowl or the Cotton Bowl. The loser (7-5 record) drops to either the Music City, Liberty or Independence. I think how UK & USC finish will have a lot to say about who goes where.

If UK finishes w/ losses to UGA & UT they would be 7-5.
If USC beats Clemson they would be 7-5. If they lose, @6-6 they may not get a bowl at all... Or they may get picked up by a bowl w/out SEC tie-ins that needs someone.

Time will tell this is shaping up to be one hell of an interesting bowl season.

I imagine that if State wins out with an 8-4 record, we'll get an invite to the Cotton Bowl. There was an article in the Clarion-Ledger (Jackson, Miss) about the Cotton Bowl being interested in State. I could also see a Chick-fil-a Bowl bid. We went 3 times in the 90s and brought lots of fans then. Besides, if we are 8-4 we'll be 2nd in the West with a tie-breaker over the Bama/Auburn winner.

More likely, I think State will end up 7-5 and go to the Independence Bowl. Liberty Bowl has shown some interest, but apparently Indy really wants us. They'd like to see a rematch of the 2000 Snow Bowl.

If we end up 6-6, just have to hope some random bowl picks us up somewhere.

Top side MSU goes to the Cotton Bowl (beat ark and om) bottom side they will get the Liberty Bowl (beat om). Not that I don't want Ole Miss to beat them but let's be realistic. Strange things can happen but I'm not putting money on it. The Liberty Bowl is wanting them and don't worry about Msu filling the stands. There will be more cowbells in Memphis than Elvis fans.
