Forget who your coach is for a second and tell me: based on the talent level of your roster alone, how are your season results matching up to your expectations?

I predicted Bama to be 7-4 going into the Iron Bowl. They are 6-4 now so I'd say my expectations have been met to a tee. The only difference in my predictions was I predicted a loss to Tennessee and a win against MSU.

Bama has one problem, John Parker Wilson. We get halfway competent QB play and we could be undefeated at this point. It takes a little time to get the Shula out of the players. Based on UTs talent level and the number of years Fulmer has been there, how many games do you think you should have won to this point in the season?

i actually think things are going better than i hoped. we control our own destiny. i can't ask for more than that. but now the real pressure begins.

I'm slightly disappointed. We have less talent that UGA, FSU, LSU, UT & AU, but I felt that our coaches could disguise our weaknesses on defense. The offense is the most disappointing thing, though. JPW has regressed -- badly. Our running game is still painful to watch. Offensive line hasn't come along as I had hoped they would. I was expecting to beat FSU and MSU at this point; obviously that hasn't happened.

I'm a little disappointed on how we lost some of the games but overall we're about where I thought we'd be..... an average football team.

I am thinking that we are about where I expected us to be. We always have room for improvement, and we always will. I am excited about the future!

It's never disappointing when you let games slip through your fingers. That's what has happened at times to us. But for me to say that I am disappointed with the overall performance of the team would not be the truth. We are still going to finish off with a better record than last season, and we are still going to a bowl game. Saban's brought an energy to this team, a fight. It's obvious in our players. There's a whole new demeanor.

This summer, I predicted that we would go 8-4, with two of the losses coming in September, and that we would play Clemson in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl. So we are about what I expected.

what a convenient scapegoat...how long can BP blame Shula and JPW?...why didn't you see this since you see the future so well?

Note predictions made by Bama fans. Actually not as unrealistic as you'd think, still off 1-2 games (which I think most SEC fans seem to be at right now)

I said 8 wins..... I think we still look good for that. I honestly think Eight wins is overachieving with the talent we have. We are young and withthe commits (Which I am never confident they will show up) we have.... The future looks good. Heck, we got beat by the guy I thought should of been the coach at Bama over Shula.

right on par with my preseason expectations.

after the season started and I saw flashes of top level play, my hopes were raised. so I am now dissappointed.

the only game I thought we'd win but didn't was miss state. I am happy to see croom doing well and I am one of the fewest bama fans that wanted to see croom here.

I'm perfectly fine with how the season has gone. Yes, I'm disappointed that we lost to FSU and MSU, two losses that I didn't think would happen. But I am pretty pleased that we beat the snot out of UT and beat Arky. If we could pull out a win in two weeks...well, it would be a really good start for the Saban era.

We're not LSU good, but we're not Notre Dame bad. Plus Saban and Company are bringing us a great recruiting class. We'll be alright.

Of course, everyone knows that Saban is a great coach and what looks like a top five recruiting class come February should certainly ease some concerns long term. If Bama loses to Auburn though, I don't see how this season can be viewed as anything nearing a success considering that 4 million dollar investment. 5 losses is tough to swallow in year one knowing that the cupboard was not bare.
That being said, I do expect him to have the tide competing for SEC titles starting next season.

I think I said something like 8-9 games and its still possible. But this MSU loss sorta hurt because 10 wins would've been huge from where we were last year. I could certainly go back and look at 8 as a big positive and 9 is in the realm of possibilities.

I mean looking at the talent on the field...well we're very talented, but young in a lot of positions and lack depth in just as many. And losing 4 of those 5 players to suspension couldn't have happened at a worse time, we're at the meat of our schedule and that crap happened... I think in a lot of ways we've overachieved. However, playing so much returning talent will only pay off next season

Most Bama fans expected us to be 7-4 going into Auburn. However, one of those losses were to either Arkansas or Tennessee by most people's predictions.

I hope to be 8-4 going into the Chick-fil-A bowl...or Outback.

If Bama loses to Auburn everything will still buff out. I think as long as steady improvment is evident from year to year Saban will be fine. Now if he goes 10-2 one year and 6-7 the next......

We're winning more this year than last year (I can clearly remember so many people criticizing Bama for firing Shula after he went 10-2 in 05) and even gave you guys quite the scare. Now I know scarin' ain't winnin', but it's obvious your coach has an inferiority complex when it comes to Saban. It was like watching a retarded monkey with an assault rifle face off against a guy with a stick. The guy with the stick didn't do anything special except duck while the monkey fired it's gun all over the place. When stick man went in for the kill, the monkey finally got a kill shot in at 2 feet.

It's ok Geaux, if I were in your shoes I'd be a little aprehensive too.

I think the record is right on track. On another board, I predicted 8-4. Right now we are looking at 7-5 and maybe 8-4.

I don't think our talent is that great, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Hell our best defensive player coming into the year has been a disappointment IMO (Castille). Those 5 players being lost has really hurt us. We don't have a bruising type back and that really showed Saturday.

Shula recruited ok, but not great. He recruited slightly above average talent. But he forgot we there is a defense that needs players.

I am not happy with what has happened in our losses but it is not shocking to me. I do feel Saban will get this sucker turned around in about 3 or 4 years when he increases the talent level on this team.
