Mercer University, a small university from the town I went to high school in, Macon, Ga., and where my mother still lives, beat #18 USC by 15 points 96-81 in basketball tonight. The big programs keep falling to the unknowns. Man, it's turning out to be just like the football season. Is there more parity there, too?

I thought we had lost to them, then realized we did not play today, we played last night.

No offense, but you know who your own team plays, don't you? You know they aren't ranked #18, right? I thought that was plenty to avoid any confusion. Also, the game was played last night... and the message was posted last night. Additionally, you'll notice this thread is in the Pac-10 forum.

Sorry I was half brain dead and half asleep. Didn't even notice any particulars on the thread. After we beat them next Saturday night we may be ranked ahead of them.

It's all good. You may be right about that, too. After losing to Mercer, if y'all beat them, you may be ranked ahead of them. I hope you guys do, too; because I don't want to read all the articles and threads on the internet saying things like, "Trojans Over Cocks!" all week.

Stratford Academy in the '80's. You grew up in Fote Valley? I know a little about it. I think the biggest employer there is or was the Blue Bird school bus company. It was when I lived in Macon, anyway. Is it still there? Also, Fort Valley State has had some decent football teams.

Went to Beechwood in the 70's. School no longer exists, but we were big rivals with Stratford in basketball.
Blue Bird is still there, though it has sold a couple of times over the years. The company that owns Chrysler now owns it.
The Luce brothers made Blue Bird the best bus company in the world but when it was time for them to retire, they sold it instead of passing it down to their kids. Probably a wise move because the industry has changed a lot. At least two of the "Luce" women went to Stratford.
FV State has had some good teams over the years. I have not really kept up with them since Lomax retired years ago.
