Let me be the 1st to say that Williams/Amhurst is the Auburn/Alabama of D3 Athletics. I've visited both schools and I can honestly say that the rivalry between both schools is the 2nd most intense next to Alabama/Auburn.

I know that sounds crazy, but it honestly is true.

That's ridiculous.

I was thinking the same thing before I actually visited Amhurst and Williams. Believe me, they treat that rivalry in only a way that I've seen with Auburn and Alabama. I can't blame any of you for thinking that sounds completely nuts coming from a rational poster like myself, but after being up there and learning about the rivalry and what it means to those schools, I completely put the Williams/Amhurst rivalry up there with any of the great big time rivalries of college football.

But is has absolutely zero relevance to national rankings and whatnot.

That's all well and good; but, they're not going to have the same kind of fanbase that the D1 schools have. Plus, there probably won't be a soul watching, unless they spend the whole time detailing the real games. They'd have just as many viewers if they were having the show at a golf course. There's no national interest in Amhurst and Williams.

Who gives a s***. It's not a BCS show. I think it gets old going to the same 25 schools. I love it. I think the Grambling v. Southern game should get a show. I wouldn't mind them hitting a couple of other schools like Appy and Ga. Southern. Great college football towns.

There's no national interest in Amhurst and Williams. There will be a ton of people there for background and when they did an ivy league game the last time they spent most of the time on the Top 25. It's more for the feature and headgear.

Grambling/Southern did get Gameday back in 2005. Last Gameday of the regular season in fact.

Anyway, it's great that Williams/Amhurst is getting this sort of exposure. Come Saturday, you guys will begin to come around and see what I meant when describing this rivalry.

I think its cool. Its still college football and its a huge rivalry and it kinda brings a little fresh air to GameDay.

I wouldn't mind seeing Grambling and Southern on the show. There's also a huge difference between having the show somewhere like Ga. Southern or App. State compared to Amhurst and Williams. GSU and App. State have 8 1-AA National Championships between them. It's just reaching to have those Div. III teams as your destination, imo.

I see your point.... but it is cool they are giving love. Those players play for the love of the game.

It's a joke. Just plain absurd. Stupid idea and nobody will watch.

That's ridiculous.

Quoted for truth. AUChamps, I don't doubt your sincerety when you talk about these two schools, but it's not going to be anything remotely close to ANY major D I rivalry. To say this rivalry is the second most intense behind the Iron Bowl is silly though. Alot of folks don't even consider the Iron Bowl to be in the top 3 as far as biggest rivalries are concerned. I don't doubt these two schools hate each other, or that they have a rich tradition playing each other, the bottom line is this atmosphere will not hold a candle to what would be seen, felt, and heard in Athens. Wasted week.

I think it would be a fine idea if it didn't take away from two other programs...it's not just about Gameday going there as much as it's about NOT going somewhere more deserving.

Did you ever stop and think that going beyond any sort of "dislike" that the Gameday crew may or may not have about Athens, that the Drought and Water Situation might have played a part in Gameday going elsewhere? I know that sounds crazy but you never know(and I thought I heard that there'll be no flushing at the stadium on Saturday).
