View Full Version : Northwestern State 499 Yards of Offense
Now wasn't that Game Embarrassing?
Ole Miss' defense struggled to stop Northwestern State, which had 499 yards of total offense."
"We just turned the ball over too many times," Northwestern State coach Scott Stoker said. "You really can't do that against anybody and be able to win."
With a season-low announced crowd of 23,283, fans showed their dissatisfaction by staying home.

If fans keep voting with their feet, Orgeron will go quickly. No one is required to keep supporting this nonsense of Orgeron for 5-6 years. Northwestern could have easily won this game and this is the same team that lost to Texas Tech by a score of 75-7, and to Nicholls State 58-0. :chair:

This team is falling apart jay. You know this, i know it and almost everyone else knows it aswell. There is absolute no reason to keep Orgeron. I mean its college football and no professional football but still its about alot of money, reputation, and future of this football program. This disgracefull sate has to end NOW. I dont care who they bring in, they just have to set a tone and give this team a new direction. Let the offensive coordinator take over i dont care but let people believe this game is still about competitiveness, you have to compete and leave everything on the field or you are out. Yes, even at Ole Miss you gotta perform well and do things right to keep your job no matter if as a player or as a coach.

Yes Jay it was embarrassing. I''ve been reading whats been posted here but too speechless to post anything worth reading for a while. It's become hard to watch or listen to a game, it's hard to think next year will be better, and it's hard talking about it now. I think the same has sunk in with the players too. How can they prepare or get up for a game when they have been lead into the position of being the pu$$ies of the sec? They have some talent to win or they wouldn't have played some pretty good teams to the wire but now how can they believe in the coaches, the plays called, or have any confidence to stop somebody? If you have to hit rock bottom to begin to climb your way back up, well, I hope this is it.

Actually Northwestern St. reviewed the game film and found an extra yard to give em 500.....
The team is dissolving.
"Orgeron confirmed that defensive lineman Chris Strong, wide receiver Michael Hicks and linebacker Ashlee Palmer were suspended for an unstated violation of team rules."

I think that everyone knows this...
now let's procede to degrade the team and the University
as negative as this season has been viewing your scrutiny and obvious pounding of the University has gotten very old Jay... you're not a real fan in my eyes, all you have done since you're join date is put down the players the team and ultimately the University while you were at it..
I mean look at your sig, jesus christ guy seriously are you even a fan of Ole Miss?
I don't think anyone accepts losing maybe Pete Boone but that is about it..

Northwestern State University is a pretty darn good football team this year, so don't beat yourselves up too badly, Rebs. The Demons could hang some points on a lot of "big time" teams.

Northwestern State scored more points against Ole Miss than they did against such great defenses as:
Northeastern Massachusetts - 14
Texas Tech - 7
Nicholls State - 0
Southeast Louisiana State - 27
Sam Houston State - 20
Texas State - 17
While I appreciate your meager optomism Geaux, NW State is a horrible team that was 3-5 coming into Oxford and probably deserved to leave Oxford 4-5 instead of 3-6. Giving up 500 yards of offense was completely unacceptable.
Also, our QB play was atrocious. Seth Adams was 7-15 for 113 yards and 1 INT. Brent Schaeffer was 3-13 for 64 yards with 1 TD. Here are some other QBs that played against the Demons:
Nathan Brown of Central Arkansas: 12-18 for 157 yards and 2 INTs
Anthony Orio of Northeastern Massachusetts: 7-12 for 130 yards and 2 TDs
Not even going to list the Texas Tech QBs.
Brian Babin of Southeastern Louisiana: 10-23 for 231 yards and 2 TDs
Rhett Bomar of Sam Houston State: 12-22 for 192 yards and 1 INT
Bradley George of Texas State: 21-33 for 214 yards and 2 TDs and 1 INT
The run blocking of the OL, Green-Ellis, Jamarca Sanford, and Johnny Brown were the only true bright spots I saw.
Texas Tech 75 Northwestern State 7
Nicholls State 58 Northwestern State 0
Northwestern State has one of its worst teams in recent years and we barely won, nuff said.

I strongly believe Jay is the most reasonable and best Ole Miss fan on this board. He is straight and honest about what he says and i appreciate that. I dont think one has to sugar coat shit to be called a good fan. To recognize and to adress the shortcomings is the first step on the way to correct mistakes and to get better. I believe even optimism should be based on a valid reason. When there is no substance to back your optimism, well that kind of optimism will make you look foolish earlier or later.

I agree wholeheartedly, I always look forward to seeing what Jay posts. He offers level headed posts with no crap and always puts things into perspective without being rash. I would never question his loyalty to the University, it's easy to tell that he cares for his team. Jay
"Vaught left nothing to chance."
"Vaught was at his best in preparation."
"He wanted all his scouts to be observant, like Mike Brumbelow, who could tell Vaught how many knots a player had in his shoelaces."
"Vaught was the greatest organizer, really a genius at it."
"For 25 years Vaught won at a school with one of the smallest enrollments in the Southeastern Conference."
"Vaught studied game film and scouting reports with a religious dedication."
"For Vaught it was a sin to field a team uncertain about the toughness and the tendencies of the enemy."
"Vaught had a head full of common sense."
--Various Books about Vaught and Comments from the Internet
These are the qualities that are required in order to return to winning at Ole Miss. Do we have them in place now? no, we do not.
You see Vaught, and people like Brewer, Cutcliffe and Tommy Tuberville knew who they were playing, what they likely could and couldn't do, and could figure out what to do to exploit the weaknesses of the enemy. It's one thing to know the other team has a great ground attack, and another to know what to do about it. If you depend on having more emotion and talent than the other team you had better be Ohio State or Southern California. Because you won't win that way at Ole Miss. We must have people who can do more with less, not worse with less. The Northwestern State game was the perfect storm. All of the poor coaching and lack of talent came together to form a precise picture of failure in action. No coach in my memory would have been better able to bring together team discontent, bad habits, poor coaching, and unmotivated players as did Orgeron. The team that showed up for State was in no way an SEC quality team.
I may be guilty of calling an apple an apple when a few people want to hear about Santa Claus and what did he bring me, well, he brought you a lump of coal and it's called, Ed Orgeron. If you liked 2007 you'll love 2008. I support competence, hard work, dedication, pride in being a Rebel, extreme commitment to excellence and that means winning and winning big. Not being satisfied with losing and waiting till the year after next.
Would Alabama wait six years in hopes of a winning season? would Florida wait? Georgia? LSU? Tennessee? Auburn? Arkansas? South Carolina? no they would not. If we are willing to settle for failure we will get it. Now think about this. If failure and losing is unacceptable to them why have we come to the point where failure is acceptable for years at a time. They hire million dollar head coaches spend twice as much as us on recruiting and we hire a defensive line coach with no head coach experience anywhere, and we look to the community colleges and the castoffs for our talent. They go for first place and we go for (ok) and we have even failed at that.
It's time to decide if we want to be playing with Alabama and LSU or do we want to play to be one step ahead of Miss State and Vanderbilt, which at this time, we ain't. Hell, we are only one step above Memphis and Northwestern State. Just about where we were when a man named Johnny Vaught showed up and said, "We can do better."
