I don't know about Girardi. He is a good, young coach, but I dont know if he will be able to handle the NY media pressure. He choked under the FL media and the owner problems and he is going to face a lot of that in NY. He also over uses a lot of his pitchers and that is going to be a problem especially with those youngs guys NYY has coming in.

I think Mattingly wouldn't have been any better. He is a colon of Torre, in that he also overuses his pitchers. The knock on him was obviously that he hadn't coached anywhere before and he wouldn't know when to take pitchers out etc...

Obviously the Yankees are in the rebuilding mode. I still think we'll get Rivera, Posada and Pettie back. That means we'll have 6 hitters from last year's line up back. Maybe A-Rod leaving is the best thing for this team, though I dont think it is. It is going to be impossible to replace his production. Without him we wouldn't even be in the playoffs this year and we all have to recognize that. Yankees will not make the post season this year considering they don't resign A-Rod, which I doubt they will.

I'm still looking forward to what the sons can do with this team. The 2009 season should have plenty of free agents available and if A-Rod and his contract is gone, you can fully expect Hank and Hal to be spending crazy (but well) getting players that can win games. Hopefully we can sang Santana when/if he becomes a free agent. Yankees don't have a lot of position players ready in the farm system. They do have a couple of outfielders, SS and 1B ready to come in and I think they'll be brought up this year. I'm still excited about this young pitching staff of Hughes, Chamberlain, Kennedy, Cliffard, etc...
