Where do you think your team will land? Here are my predictions (based on projected finish...obviously will change from week to week):

BCS Title: LSU

Sugar: UF

Capital One: UK

Outback: Alabama

Cotton: Auburn

Chick Fila: SOuth Carolina

Music City: Tennessee

Liberty: Arkansas

Independence: UGA

Others: Vandy / MSU can each get to a bowl with one upset. Would have to fill in at another non-SEC affiliated bowl to get selected with 6-6 record.

UGA in the independence bowl??? They'll make it to the Chick-fil-A bowl at the very least.

Please not the Liberty Bowl. I'd rather go to Shreveport than get embarrased by a CUSA wannabe.

This has to be the most premature thread I have ever seen. Let's wait at least a couple of more weeks so we can make an educated guess. Right now this is pure speculation. There is still a lot of games to be played and the next couple of weeks will start to put things in order. I guess though, the way this season has gone, the only way to put this season in order is to have it behind us.

I love how since UK beat LSU, UK fans think they are the greatest thing since a slice of bread, damn. This is the SEC and anything can happen any given week. We all saw that last week once again when Vandy kicked our butt.

Not very likely that these two could play in both of these bowls. For either one to get there, they would necessarily need to win the SEC. If LSU wins the SEC and plays for the National Championship, Florida as a 3 loss team won't likely get the at-large bid for the Sugar Bowl. If Florida wins the SEC to take the automatic bid to the Sugar Bowl, then LSU is out of National Title contention. The only way this scenario could play out with both of these teams in these bowls, in my mind anyway, would be if Florida won out and ended up playing for the National Championship again and LSU ended up in the Sugar Bowl again.

Here's how CBS projects it:

BCS - Lsu vs. Ohio State
Sugar - UF vs. Hawaii
Outback - USC vs. Penn St
Cotton - Auburn vs. Missouri
Capital 1 - Ky vs. Michigan
Music City - UGA vs. Wake Forest
Chik-filet - bama vs. Va Tech
Independance - Ark vs. Oka St.
Liberty - UT vs. So. Miss

One could say the same about South Carolina fans since Spurrier's arrival. What is the reason for this attack??? For a program that has been constantly mired in mediocrity, I would think of all programs in the SEC, USC's fans would be able to most closely relate. We've had some random success in between long stretches of misery (sound familiar Gamecocks?) I just don't understand the reason for the attack. I'm glad to see USC doing well, just as I am w/my Wildcats. But to act like we don't have anything to be excited about, or the fact that we don't have one helluva competitve team, is ridiculous.

On that note, yes, anything can happen in the SEC. I'm really hoping we don't overlook Mississippi State this weekend. They beat Auburn on the Plains....we've got a tough task ahead of us this weekend. We've beaten 'em 4 in a row, I know there are guys in the Bulldogs lineup that are itching to beat Kentucky.

I think part of the problem is again that everyone for some reason puts Kentucky ahead of a USC team that beat them and beat them soundly I might add.

Both teams have 2 losses......

USC won the head to head......

USC still "controls their own destiny" in the East, while Kentucky does not.......

Having said that, a loss against the Vols this weekend would null and void this discussion anyway.

The reason Kentucky is ahead is because they beat may be the best team in the country and played arguably the second best team in the country pretty tough. It is more a question of schedules. Kentucky has played a tougher schedule up to this point. South Carolina will have a chance to rectify this perceived short sightedness by beating UT and Arkansas on the road and beating the Gators on the road. No matter what though you beat Kentucky and can brag about that.

I'm not saying don't enjoy the win. You beat the best team in the country, should be proud of that and should enjoy that. I am not saying that by any means. I agree that USC is still a mediocare program to be honest. I jsut don't think Spurrier is going to stick around here for much longer, but thats another topic. What I dont get is after you beat LSU, UK fans have been so cocky its not even funy and it's been almost every single one of you. You automatically think you are better than USC, even though we won head to head. You all say it was a fluke and that USC got lucky to beat UK because Woodson had an off day. And I dont where it was but someone had UK in the freaking national title game, thats joke or even a BCS bowl. If there is a SEC team that will get into a BCS bowl this year, it will be UF, its evident they are the best team.

UK is a great team this year and the program is on the rise, just like USC.

Yes, Bama beat Texas Tech but look at what Bama did the next season, same thing for Tennessee & Ole Miss when they won it. LSU, Arkansas, and Tennessee went and lost the cotton bowl and had a good year the following year. There is something about SEC winning the Cotton Bowl that snake bites the upcoming season. Look at this and tell me if the Cotton bowl curse isn't real....

07. AU 17 Nebraska 14 (We've lost 3 games thus far)
06. UA 13 Texas Tech 10 (Bama went 6-7 the next year)
05. UT 38 Texas A&M 7 (UT went 5-6 the next year)
04. Ole Miss 31 OK State 28 (Ole Miss went 4-7 the nest year)
03. LSU 20 Texas 35 (LSU went 13-1 and won the BCS title)
02. Arkansas 3 Oklahoma 10 (Arkansas went 9-4 the next season)
01. UT 21 Kansas State 35 (UT went 11-2 the next season)

See a pattern here?

LOL...never thought that we are sliced bread. We could easily lose 2 or 3 in the next four games. I am willing to bet, however, that if UK has a simliar record as UGA or USC that the Capital One would take UK b/c UK would bring 50,000 fans and a heisman trophy candidate at QB.

good point, gator, I considered this when I authored this post. On the other hand, a team only has to have 9 wins to be considered for the BCS and be ranked in the top 12 or 15 (can't remember which it is). UF would be 10-3, have Tebow as their QB, and a nice contingent of gator fans willing to converge on New Orleans. Plus, given the Sugar Bowl's preference to have an SEC team, I think it likely that they take the gators over a 9-3 type of team like UK or Auburn / Bama.

i think state will once again be calling it an early season this year as much as i hate to say it.....ky is going to beat us this weekend and i think we'll lose to alabama.....msubully said arkansas could lose out after this weekend....im not sure that will happen because we have a good chance to lose to them especially after losing 4 straight at that point in time....we should beat ole miss so im saying we miss out and go 5-7

I hate to break this to ya, but you need to take off the "blue" sunglasses.

USC set records for ticket sales in both the Outback and the Independence Bowls. So to say that the bowls would automatically take UK is nuts and just plain homeristic. UK isn't a shoe-in for the Capital One because this is still Kentucky. Steve Spurrier himself has more pull than Woodson and company.

Secondly,

The bowls know that USC travels with the best in the nation. That much can be proven just by doing a little research. Do you think that UK was the only team to sell tickets? Last I looked, Clemson travels fairly well also and considering that the Music City Bowl only seats 67K, I seriously doubt that UK seated 50K. I really don't think that they would seat 50K at the Capital One either.

As for a Heisman trophy candidate, well Woodson hasn't looked like one since the USC game so don't bet on that considering that they award the Heisman Trophy BEFORE the bowl games.

Neo, as usual, you are wrong on most of your comments.

1) I based my predictions on my thoughts that UK will go 3-1 down the stretch (wins over Vandy, MSU, and either UGA or UT). I don't think that this is inconceivable to most reasonable fans of SEC football. However, I will allow for the fact that UK could win out or lose two of four.

2) I think USC will fade with losses to UT, UF, and potentially arkansas down the stretch. Hence, my predicted bowl for them.

3) USC did not take more fans to tampa than UK took. The bowl might have been a sellout but OSU had a number of fans there too. Further, UK had 40,000-45,000 fans in 98 while PSU barely had 10K.

4) Ask any clemson fan last year about the crowd split and they wouldn't argue with 50K. One of my best friends is dyed-in-the-wool clemson and he was disgusted by the fact that there were only 12-15K clemson fans there while the rest of the stadium was solid blue.

5) THe only way UK won't take 50K fans to florida (outback or capital one) is if the other team travels well and makes it impossible for UK fans to get all of the tickets. i assure you that the blue fans will buy as many as they can get their hands on.

6) I agree with you that spurrier is a draw for bowls and TV.

7) It is not "blue-tinted" to call Woodson a heisman candidate. Just about every media outlet and "expert" in the country has done so. I'd call 415 yards and 5 TDs against UF pretty decent. Also, his win over #1 ranked LSU didn't hurt him in the eyes of heisman voters.

I'm sure you will respond with some nasty retorts, but these are just the facts.
