Now this is completely my opinion and is not to be interpreted as attacks on great Florida team.

There have been a few teams recently in all of football that have the same thing in common. A quarterback like Tim Tebow. They are known as Mike Vicks and this years florida team is the perfect example. A good overall team with lots of speed and talent. But would they be the same team without Tebow? I think not. I just feel that having the ability to get a first down on almost every play with the QB draw is just a little unfair lol. However there is no rule against having a player like this. Its actually a God Send for the Florida Football team to have this kid. Lets just hope that they enjoy it while he is there.

Don't worry, once Tebow leaves us, we will have Cameron Newton. He is about two inches taller than Tebow and about 20 lbs heavier. The scary thing, he is just as fast if not faster. So once the Tebow era is up, you can look forward to Newton running opposing players over just as Tebow did.

I never said he was going to be better. With the way Tebow has played thus far, that would be ridiculous to say. I was just answering his thing about having a big, physical quarterback that can run on 3rd and shorts and plow through defenders. Are you going to the game, Dan?

That's a good point. With our offense...the QB is the "center" of the offense...I know that's the case with most offenses, but a great RB or a great WR (Harvin/Caldwell)...can make an offense for some teams. With the "Read-Spread" that Meyer likes, the QB makes the decisions on passes as well as runs based on what he "reads" at the snap. Tebow has done well...and he's a big/strong runner. But as long as Meyer is at UF...you can expect us to field QBs "like" Tebow. I happen to think that Tebow is a special player...not because he gets first downs or because he's doing so well right now, but because of the type of guy he is and the way he lives his life. He's the type of player that I would like for my son/daughter to look up to...in sports, there's not too many role models anymore.

Yeah, me and some friends are going and we are probably just going to try and scalp a ticket. Some friends of ours were saying you can normally get them for like $30 right before the game because students get desperate to sell them. If that doesn't work out, we'll probably just watch it on the projector they set up. It is too bad though you aren't going to get to watch Tebow run over Georgia players first hand.

Tebow and Mike Vick have absolutely nothing in common. Vick is conceited, and will run even when he has open receivers, or is in danger of getting his uni dirty from contact. Tebow doesn't think he's even played until he's put a hat on somebody. Vick can throw the ball a very long distance... to the ground. Tebow throws the ball a very long way... hitting receivers in stride. Vick may have been the worst scumbag to have ever suited up, even back in college. Hardly Tebow. Tebow will play all 4 years... I feel quite confident in that assessment; and his backup, Newton, showed in the Spring Game that he can run the offense nearly as well as the starter. If anybody's waiting for a QB deficiency at QB U., it's going to be a long wait.

Here is the truth:

Tebow runs as often as he does for two reasons:

1. We still do not have a traditional running game and the marquee, go-to RB upon which to build. Moore is servicable, but he isn't "the guy." We're all hoping Moody is that guy. That will take A LOT of pressure off Tebow and the WRs to generate a running game. You'll also see quite a bit more diversity on third-and-short and the running game in general when we get a game-breaker in the backfield not named Harvin.

2. Quite a few of Tebow's runs are not called from the box. They're either a product of good coverage, pressure from the DL, or mistaken reads where he tucks it and runs the football. He's gotten a lot better since even last year in decision-making and hanging tough in the pocket, but he's still learning and growing in the position. Next year it will be even better. Meyer wants to target around 10 designed runs for Tim per game, and with a standard running attack, things will be more balanced in terms of carries and playcalling, which has always been the plan. It just hasn't worked out the way we've hoped with our RBs the last few years....Manson, Walker, Moore, etc.

I agree with all this, of course; but, while Moore may not be "the guy", I think he would be more effective with a few more touches. How many running backs only pick up 3 or 4 yards a carry, for 9 carries; and then, on the 10th one, break one for 50 yards... upping their average to 9 or 10 yards per touch? It seems like it always works out that way... I see few guys rushing for 7-10 yards every time they carry the ball. I just don't think he's had a fair shot at putting up big numbers, because he never gets enough touches necessary in a game to finally hit a big one. I've seen flashes of greatness; and if he can just protect the ball, he could put up some impressive stats. Moody won't put up great numbers, either, if you only give him 5 token touches a game.

He still hasn't really developed yet. He's been hurt for most of this year with a nagging injury, otherwise he would probably see time in nickel and dime packages.

Let me give my $.02. Tebow is a fantastic player. But IMHO he'll be lucky to make it out of the UF in one piece. If he keeps up his current pace, that is. He's go some good WR's and he better start scaling back the running if he has ambitions beyond college. He's not 100% and no matter what you Gator fans say, when you keep someone out of contact/practice all week, you're hurting and not 100%. We'll be dogging him all game as I would think teams will do from here on out. Our question is can we stop ANYBODY from running.

Right now he pretty much is for Gator fans. I don't think you'll get your wish that quickly. I think Tebow will run through that UGA defense much like he did against LSU. He single handedly almost beat LSU in Baton Rauge. I predicted UGA to win this game and if they do it's going to be because of your offense not your defense. If Stafford can hit those receivers, actually if those recievers can catch the ball, and exploit that weak secondary, UGA wins.

We've got some key guys back on defense for this game. We've been playing painfully thin at Linebacker and now we've got 2 starters back from injury. Not saying they are going to shut him down, but they will likely do a decent job of containing him.

There isn't much talent in Kentucky outside of Andre Woodson. Just look at the recruiting rankings.

2003 - 1 4-star (Woodson) 9 3-star 12 2-star
2004 - 1 4-star 10 3-star 16 2-star 1 0-star
2005 - 0 4-star 3 3-star 23 2-star
2006 - 3 4-star 10 3-star 17 2-star
2007 - 1 4-star (DNQ) 9 3-star 19 2-star

It's amazing what good quarterback play will do for a team with very little talent elsewhere. Kentucky will be back to the same old Wildcats we've come to know and love next year, and Rich Brooks will more than likely find himself in a very familiar position: the hot seat.

The same could be said for USC, Only there savior was a coach. That only lasts so long though. Spurrier wont stick in Carolina because there is no future for him there, he is a winner.

The difference is that our coach is turning our entire program around. Your quarterback is giving y'all two good seasons and leaving Kentucky the way he found it. Spurrier isn't going anywhere. He's got the biggest ego out of anyone I've ever met. If he leaves Carolina without accomplishing what he wants to accomplish, then his image and his ego both will take a hit. In response to the original post.....he's right. This is a young Florida team, and while they would definitely be competitive, Tebow makes the team. Florida fans are certainly aware of how much of that offense runs through him. But....he's there, and he's a factor, and folks gotta deal w/him.

Yea...some USC fans were on one of the Gator Boards saying that Moody was the best thing since slice bread (before he transferred)...then, said that he wasn't "talented" enough to play there is why he transferred. I thought that was interesting as well considering he beat out all of their RBs and was starting as a freshman. He got hurt and was replaced...says he never liked it at USC. We'll see.

Exactly. Brooks hasn't been able to get talent like Spurrier has been able to at USC. Even if Spurrier loses, we still will be able to get plenty of talent, just like we got them when he wasn't here with Holtz. We had plenty of Top 25 classes prior to Spurrier coming. I agree with cat strach fever that we probably wouldn't have won many games this year w/o spurrier but again, our D has something to do in all those games. You can't say Spurrier won the UGA and UK games for us, his offense didn't do crap, it was Tyrone Nix's defense.

Woodson will leave UK and it will be the same as it was prior to him being there. Brooks hasn't been able to accumulate the talent that Spurrier has been able to at uSC.

Believe it or not, recruiting rankings do mean something. A few 5-stars here and there may be busts, and a few 2-stars here and there may turn out to be household names, but there's a reason why Texas, Southern Cal, Florida, Oklahoma et al usually end up in the Top 10 in recruiting and on the field.

I agree with you on this one. Like you said, sometimes 5 stars bust (ie Schaeffer) but more than not, they end up being the best on the team.
