View Full Version : Ga vs FL Predictions
I know there are other threads out there to do with this. But i want this one to be different. Until the game is over no trash talk, reason's why or anything of the sort. Just your predictions. Score or who you think wins. Either one. Then after the game disscusion begins.
I'll go first

The key for UGA is to attack the UF secondary. Will Bobo realize this before its too late? Probably not. UGA needs to be creative on offense. They have the talent to execute trick plays but they play too conventional on offense.

FL wins in a blow out or GA wins in a squeaker.

^ dumb. You realize that the National Championship gators couldn't beat a decidedly worse Georgia team last year by more than 1 TD, yet you are predicting a blowout of a better UGA team by a subsequently dilapidated Florida team?

UGA keeps it close early but FLA pulls away late. UGA won't be able to stop Tebow late in the game and FLA puts up some late TDs.

I'm going this to jax this year, got tix and everything so hopefully it'll be close.... unfortunately if i had to predict i'd say the gators stomp us. Our Defense is pourous, and dropped passes will kill any chance we have. We'd need to be at least +3 on turnovers to win.

Dilapidated Florida team?
Our defense is "dilapidated" from last year...but our offense is waayyy better. And it wasn't our defense that won the UGA game last year...UGA's offense was pretty self-limiting...the reason the game was so close was because of our offense not making plays...this offense can make plays.
I'm not ready to say UF will or will not win. Both the Gators and Dogs have been inconsistent in games...the Dogs blow out OM...a team that UF barely beat....then the Dogs get blown out by UT...a team that the Gators blew out. UGA last won in JAX in '04...the same week the Gators fired Ron Zook...it was hard for me to be upset about that loss...considering my joy that week over Zook's firing... I haven't watched UGA play much this year...but Stafford seems to be doing well...he just doesn't have any WRs. That kinda plays into our weakness. UGA will not be able to beat the Gators with their running game...Stafford is gonna need a 300-400 yrd day to beat us.....I just don't see that.

Depends on which UGA team shows up. The way Richt has his team play on the road, he should try to play the game in Gainesville every year! Not sure what to make of Richt.

Saying that though.. the last time UGA's was left for dead (last year after losses to Vandy and UK)... Richt rallied the troops, and went into Auburn.. and beat the hell out of them.. so who knows?

Pinch me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the same UGA that lost to (gasp!) Tennessee 35-14? They don't even belong on the same field with Florida. This one is going to get ugly. Florida wins by whatever they choose to put on the scoreboard; probably 41-7 or the vicinity.

I like it, but it's not going to happen. Bye week, and their strength on offense is our weakness (and that's putting it politely) on defense. Throw in a bunch of injuries---why can't we stay healthy for at least two weeks???---and you have the makings of a tough, hard-fought rivalry game.

You NEVER, NEVER, NEVER say because one team beat another that they will beat someone.
UK beat LSU
LSU beat UF
UF beat UK
It's about matchups. NEVER can you use because one team beat another that they'll win.

Previous well made statements aside, I agree it's about match ups. I just don't see us getting it done this year. I say that for one reason. Our PATHETIC defensive coordinator. Yea, Yea I know we shut Vandy down in the second half, and yes that is a departure from our normal methods. But unless CWM shows the Gators something different, their defensive front and LB's will put enough pressure on MS to render UF's secondary and our WR's a push. I might even give them an edge. "Oooops, I dropped the ball, coach. I'm sorry, I'll do better next time" I'm glad I won't be watching this one. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's even close.

Exactly.
I don't believe team A killed team B. Team B killed team C, therefore team A will kill team C. That is math, not football.
It is exactly what you say. Games are about matchups. One team (A) may have their strengths line up perfectly with another team (B) and beat them, then go and lose to a lot of other teams that the team they beat has beaten (B>C,D,E------C,D,E>A).
You can't compare teams like that to say who will win. Generally if there are a lot of common games and ther is a trend then you can make more inferences on how the game will go. If Florida/UGA played all the same SEC teams and Florida won each of theirs by about 14 more per game and lost by a lot smaller margin than Georgia then it would be more fair to compare. You can't just take 1 team that both Florida and Georgia played and compare Florida/Georgia. That doesn't account for growth (or regression) in any of the teams. Tennessee is a much better team than they were at the beginning of the season.
That being said, I think Florida is obviously a better team than Georgia. I don't care that their record is the same. They have had different schedules. Florida has played very well in their games (with exceptions of Auburn, which we almost won and Ole Miss, which we did win). I think Georgia has been very inconsistent. They have shown some good things a few weeks and then other weeks look very weak. I don't think Georgia is a bad team, I just believe Florida is a better team this year. Does that mean Georgia can't or won't beat us? No. Georgia definitely can. I wouldn't put the SEC past anything this season with the way some things have gone, especially in a rivalry game like the WLOCP.

I think for some reason or another UGA is gonna pull this one out. They have had a bye week to get prepared for this game and we all know Richt is a damn good coach. I think it will come down to the play calling in Bobo. They have to exploit UF's weakness and thats the secondary. If Stafford and the receivers mainly will step up, UGA has a damn good chance to winning. We all know I'm hoping to a UGA loss so that eliminates them, but I just have a feeling about this game. Not to mention, UF is coming off of a tough game against Kentucky and we saw what happened to LSU after they played a tough game against UF, same would happen in Jacksonville.

Thats no the reason I think they'll lose though. UGA just doesn't have the offense to keep up with FLA.

And Florida barely beat Ole Miss, while Georgia destroyed them. We've already established that this has no bearing on what will happen. Apparently some of you, in light of Kentucky's little-defense-mucho-offense scheme, have forgotten that it's about defense in the SEC. This game isn't going to be decided by who has a more potent offense, it's going to be decided by who's defense plays better.

I really don't see a win for Georgia this year, based on the way the two teams have played. The one area that Florida is shaky - the secondary - is the one area we've not been able to attack because <insert your own reason here>.
I could conceivably see the Dawgs making it close, if only because it's the WLOCP, but I just don't feel it this year.

I believe that the Dogs will come into Jacksonville rested, focused and primed for the Fruit-Bowl Fiesta with the Lizards, and pull out the desperately-needed victory. Knowshon "Don't Call Me Grant" Moreno runs circles around Florida's nationally 23rd ranked defense, and Stafford has one of his career-best games, throwing for over 200 yards, completing over 50% of his passes, and actually throwing for more TD's than INT's (1 to 0).
Meanwhile, the Dogs' alledgedly superior defense (according to the great expert DevilDawgDougie) - ranked 50th nationally - shuts down the Lizards' offense, as the UGA front 7 contains Tebow from bursting free with any big-play runs, and forces him into throwing errors.
All of this culminating in a 13-10 UGA victory, leaving Tebow in tears once again, the Lizard-Nation in shock, and Coach Richt proclaiming that all the media's Negative Nancy's can just kiss his butt-cut!!
