By no means is he ready for a head coaching job in DI, but the guy could step in right now and make a huge impact on 80% of the SEC's offense's. I wouldn't have believe it if I didn't see it last night with my own eyes. The guy knows his offense. And his team ran it to perfection. The best QB in the state of Arkansas is in Conway Arkansas, and plays for the UCA bears. Nathan Brown is proving critics wrong. Several said he could never play big time college football. Well all I can say is, Last night against Texas State he had more TD passes that incompletions. Nathan throw for a school record 7 touchdowns and they pulled him early in the 3rd quarter. If people think he doesn't belong, just keep your eye on the kid. He will be playing at the next level and making a name for himselve.
Remember, Scottie Pippin was from this school and look what happen to his career.
Arkansas had better gas up the car and put new AD Jeff Long aboard, to travel to Conway and sign this guy as a offensive coordinator. No matter who is coaching here next year. This guy can turn it around, and without paying him 4Mil a year and becoming a man whore.
Remember the name, Football Coach Clint Conque. Now back to local programing...

Hogville people have been saying his name for a long time and been accused of only doing it since we hate Nutt.
As we saw verse Auburn, Clint Conque and his offense could run circles around Nutt's. EVEN UCA could score more than Arkansas did tonight.
This program is trash until Nutt is gone. I'll take Conque right now.
Also, Conque won't be anyone's OC. If he wanted to, he could find a low level FBS head coaching job. I would take Conque as HC and not be too upset.

Does the lack of success this year mean that Malzahn was actually calling the plays last year? I think not having Monk and Cleveland has killed us this year! I've been saying that Nutt did a good job while he was here, but he's worn out his welcome and really divided the state. Your either for him or against him; I don't think there's anyone left that is neutral.

I'd call myself neutral at this point. I think that our lack of recieving corps has killed us this year. What if London didn't drop the ball with no one on him against Alabama? What if our TE or someone other than Crosby could catch a pass against Kentucky? Against Auburn, we had a number of drops or catchable balls that weren't caught. I've said this before, but our receivers have to make plays, and that means they have to catch the balls that are thrown high or behind. Heck, our guys (except Hillis) can hardly catch balls that hit them in the numbers. Folks put it on Casey, but I don't see how he can have any confidence in throwing the ball when his receivers are so unpredictable and can't catch unless they are wide open (sometimes) and the ball is thrown with an arc that I'd throw my 6th grader.
I think the Auburn game was a perfect example of how bad our current receivers are. They played man the amost the entire game, and none of our recivers could get open. I think part of it is the route trees they are running against a man defense, but they couldn't create spacing at all.
Now, some might think this is a recruiting issue, and it could be....if your recruiting plan is to have Marcus Monks 3 deep. But when you are missing your top 3 receivers you can't seriously expect a full squad of second teamers to carry your passing game in the SEC.
Regarding a new coach, Nutt is certainly out even if he wins all of the remaining games. I just don't know if we have the $$ to draw a decent coach in such a hostile environment....and the minority of fans that make their life's mission to drive Nutt out of town have created the appearance of a hostile environment.

It seems like Nutt has zero supporters in the entire fanbase. Is this true? Does every single person in Arkansas disapprove of Nutt's job? He DID get them to the SEC champ game last season. And if I recall, got a huge raise afterwards. Just saying, how is a coach supposed to perform at his best when there is no one behind him?

I don't agree with AF that much, but in this case I think he's right. In 06 fans were bitchin about Malzahn not having control of the offense. Well, maybe those fans were wrong. I know IM having 2nd thoughts. Think about it. Wildcat formation had some creative looks and worked. Screen passes kept defenses honest and McFadden wasn't wore out at the end of games.
I think Gus had success in his first year, then seen the writing on the wall with whispers behind his back, then book to Tulsa to get away from the soap opera. IM no Malzahn lover, in fact my brother said he's a real azzhole, from calling some of his HS games, But IM not Nutt hater either. But I think some feelings were hurt along with major egos. And at the end of last season with all going their seperate ways, all were happy but Arkansas fans.
When Nutt hire David Lee, it was like waving a white flag for me. It told me we were going in the wrong direction. Lee may be a all right fellow. But they are thousands of them in the unemployment line. Where these guys end up next year is beyond me. If in fact Baylor University is interested in Nutt, there's no way in hell Reggie Herring will be in the mix. Baylor is known for hard nose defense. Not flag football.

TD, you don't think we have the money? Papers released in the Nolan Richardson trial showe the Razorback Foundation had 20 million dolars of readily usable funs and up to 180 million pledged.
Arkansas can contact many coach. Butch Davis is an alumni and has a house in Springdale. Tuberville is a native. Petersen, Conque, Graham, Bo Pelini, and Bud Foster are all ready for a step up. Bobby Petrino could be looking for a huge payday considering he was grumpy with his situation Atlanta BEFORE Vick. Never know, Tedford could finally get sick of his stadium situation at Cal.
We can only hope.

I hate to say it, but I tend to put a lot of blame on Casey Dick. Yeah, the recievers are catching his passes, but alot of times the defenders aren't catching them either when they should. I think Dick's just tossing rockets to who ever is open that second. He's throwing it so hard no one can catch it most of the time.
If he could trust his receivers routes, and just put a touch on throws a lot of key passes would have been made.
I seem to remember last year Monk pulled our butts out of the fire a few times with some impossible catches. Those breaks just out going our way this time.
But if we had a better QB we would need luck.

Stark, I want to thank you for the biggest laugh I have had in a long time...I almost blew Coke out of my nose when I read this.
This has to be sarcastic, right? Are you sure you're watching the Hogs? When are the receivers catching passes? He's throwing it too hard? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....that's just ridiculous.
Our receivers need to make plays...period. They can't expect the ball to be thrown on the numbers every time, so they have to catch balls that are high, low, behind, etc....that's what a college level receiver is supposed to do. Like Hillis and Tuck have done this year and Monk did last year. But I've said previously, it's hard to expect this type of performance from 2 and 3rd stringers.
Folks are too hard on Casey. He actually has a decent passing effeciency rating despite all of the drops. He suffers from a poorly crafted passing scheme and receivers that can't catch or hang on to the ball once they catch it (London Crawford). It's easy to blame him though, and it sucks that Nutt and Lee don't prop him up.

Sigh. I gotta shoot the middle here. The receivers don't help Casey out by working with him. They drop passes too often. They give up on routes when the coverage is there. Where the heck has Reggie fish been this year?
Casey isn't blameless. How many times can you throw into double or triple coverage? Overthrow a guy by ten yards? (No. I do not exaggerate.) Hold the ball too long and let the defense read you? Stare down a receiver and let the defense read you?
The receivers are somewhat forgivable. At least we have some youth and injuries there to blame. But Casey is a Junior he should be seeing things better.
There leads into the gripe at Nutt. When do you see what else you have. Does Emert suck that bad? Didn't he break records at Missouri Southern? Yeah it's a lower division but why not give him a shot? Where's this Alex Mortenson kid? Stink-o as well? I can only assume you don't throw in Nathan Dick (who is said to be better than his brother) and the other underclassmen to redshirt them.
Ugh.

Good points...the blame is certainly spread between coaches, QB and receiver.
I'm just not sure that another QB is the answer, unless we've got someone that's mobile that can be a scrambling threat.
What do you think about putting DMac at QB and running an option offense with Hillis and Felix? Similar to Wildcat but running from an 'I' sometimes so the QB can pitch if the middle is locked up.....

You know. I wondered something similar. Was Robert Johnson not good at the option? It's not like anyone can get him the ball as a receiver...
