We all knew that Auburn would be fielding it's youngest team in years. However, with injuries and such the team is starting even more freshmen than anyone envisioned during the preseason. Thus far I'm liking what I'm seeing from the young guys. Even though they are 2-2 they are showing that they are very talented and are starting to learn more and adjusting to the speed of the college game. In our two losses this season we have beaten ourselves more than anything. Missed assignments and turnovers are the main difference in 4-0 and 2-2. These are the type of things that you expect to see from such a young team. But make no mistake, these guys are getting better each and every week. It would the height of folly for any team to take the Auburn Tigers lightly. Once these sophomores and freshmen are seniors and juniors this team should be primed and ready for a championship run. Here's a link to an article on some of our young players....

Hey WE73, your avatar is HOT!! Looks like a few more youngsters will get a chance to shine in the Swamp. Did you hear that Montez Billings(6-2/190 SO ) is being moved into the top spot at flanker? I guess those drops by Dunn in the first half of the NMSt game did him in. Although his second half performance was stellar. The reports are that the staff really want to get Chris Slaughter(6-3/170 FR) on the field as well. Although he does catch the ball, he apparently has some bad route-running habits and lacks a firm grasp of the offense. I'm excited about the game! I think AU will play well.

And I think the biggest thing we need to work on now is our receivers. They're killing us! I couldn't stop screaming at the radio Saturday. (then the TV the next day) I just wish we had Lester back in time for this one in the swamp.

It seems like they staff is trying to find someone to step up and make some plays at that position besides R.Smith. But you know, it kinda reminds me of Obamanu, Aromashodu and Mix before the 04 season. They dropped a lot of passes for a while, then in 04 it was like they had stick-em on their hands and caught everything and broke tackles for extra yards. Dunn showed signs of that in the second half last saturday and I'm hoping that the competition in practice will inspire them all to step it up.

The talent is definately there. So is the youth. In time one or maybe two of them will come of age and step it up as a go to guy.
