i just read on another forum where some Georgia fans stole one of the national championship flags and hung another one upside down...anyone at the game that saw it?
i mean if security can find that commentator's CBS jacket you'd think they could find a national championship flag...

2 questions. Will UGA now claim another MNC?
How much will it go for on Ebay?

Damn!... and I thought they just were classless in Athens. I guess it's true... they DO travel well... even the rednecks can afford to make an away game.

I'm not going to say anything about this becuase Alabama's student section was deplorable as well. I've said it once and I'll say it again, all teams have rotten fans. After the Gerogia win, the media (Pat Forde) was only highlighting how bad the Bama fans were, but when you've gotten as much media attention as Alabama has this year it is easy for folks to focus on any aspect they can that can bring them down. Before anyone starts demonizing a team's fans just remember that your fans suck too and it can often come back to bite you in the ass.

Wow thats just stupid if someone stole a national title flag they should be banned from college athletics. I heard that game had alot of fighting and bottle throwing at the end. I have a fraturnity brother who got hit with a beer bottle and there were supposively fights in the stands after the games.

Pretty childish stuff, for sure. I'd go so far as to say I'd berate another Gator, and stand up for a rival, if I saw them doing things like that and the rival was in the right. I have little patience or tolerance for that crap... no matter whose team it is.

It is a shame we are all judged by the misconduct of a few. There are those in every crowd, only too willing to throw bottles, instigate altercations, and engage in generally disruptive and ill-mannered behavior. Those of us watching, should be smart enough to bear in mind that is a very small number of fans to blame for this, and quite unfortunate that we all bear the stigma AND the price for their rudeness.

Are you guys serious?!!?!?!?!
This is exactly what the game needs. More drunken fights, vandalism, throwing glass objects at one another's players. All the SEC teams fans need to start gangs and after each game the two teams that played, their gangs fight each other. This would really liven up the sport and bring much needed press to the league.

It should also be said that while one group of Bama fans threw things at the Georgia team, there was another group of Bama fans that gave them a round of applause as they left the field.
THAT'S the kind of behavior the press should be singling out for commentary.

At the very least include it as part of the facts. Like I said, so many people are tired of hearing about Saban and Bama that they have to cling to any shortcomming and magnify x10 in order to bring them down. :glare:

That doesn't sell papers.

That doesn't sell papers.
And that's a truly sad commentary... one that a certain Big 12 coach addressed quite fittingly the other day.

I'm pretty sure that the rumor about the UGA fans taking one of the NC flags is true. One of the NC flags (1992) has been missing since Saturday night. But I'm also not happy with the Bama fans who threw crap onto the field after the game. I think Saban was probably sending a subtle message to the Bama student section with his "We need to be classy" speech yesterday.

Guess we can call it even since our students threw things at their team?

are there any proof? just because it's missing doesn't mean they took it. this is how internet urban myths are created.

The North endzone upper deck is visitor seating. The flag went missing during the game, along with other flags being thrown off the upper deck and another turned upside down.

Well, learn from this and hang the flags out of reach. Such flags in Death Valley are pretty much out of reach unless you want to place your life at risk. And, they are pretty much adjacent to the student section, meaning that an interloper would be very much in danger if s/he tried to get at the NC flags.

what do you do at a game? count all 12 every quarter?
BamaDude06

Well when you are looking in that direction for a TD drive, its not that hard to notice it missing. 1992 is on the end, and the wind was blowing the others around.

It was a showing of disrespect, esp. the flag that was turned down. We can replace the one that went missing.

Well when a game could be decided by a FG you will be looking at the flags. Now I didn't pay attention to those flags because they are so high up, but I certainly was checking the flags on the other end to see what the wind was doing.
So it is not so far fetched for someone to notice a flag was missing.
BTW, the 1st game where the cup throwing started was the 1994 UGA game when we won in the final moments. It continued when I was in school there (1996-2004 that includes some law school and a masters, so spare the jokes). I was in a fraternity and I can say I never once threw anything. I think it is stupid and reflects very badly on Alabama. The majority don't throw anything but when you have 15,000 in a section, it doesn't take much for it to get dangerous.
You all know of course that an upside down flag is a distress signal. Maybe it was some Saban fans at the end of their rope...

Not to worry, Alabama knows how to find another national championship banner. We just have to follow the process.i just read on another forum where some Georgia fans stole one of the national championship flags and hung another one upside down...anyone at the game that saw it?

Flags? As in plural... as in more than one national championship flag? When did LSU win national championships?Well, learn from this and hang the flags out of reach.
